Question on feats

I was running amrath awhile ago and i grouped with a bard who said that once you hit 30 on your spell penetration it no longer really matters if it goes higher.


If this is true then i was considering swapping my greater spell pen for something else.

A modifier of +30 is very good, but how do you have a modifier >+30? You'd have to have a couple of past life feats in order to go past +30 without the greater spell pen feat. Ideally, you'd want to have spell pen as high as possible so that even on a roll of 1 you get through.

yes i have wizard past life 1

20 Wizard Lvls = 20
Wizard Past Life = 2
Spell Pen Feat = 2
Spell Pen Enh = 3
Item/DT rune = 3(2)

Total Mod = 30 or 29

Even with a +30 there are mobs you cant get through spell resistance on a roll of 1. Is there a feat you're so hard pressed to get?

Not really, i was only looking to experiment a bit since i still have my free feat swap token.
