    Default Muhammad Ali - 12 fighter/7 rogue/ 1 monk

    Calling all fighters!! I am seeking the help of all you fighters out there that have experience and success with mixed classing fighters (something I do have, but not to the level I'd like to have). For my next project, I am planning to go with this split. Please help me float like a butterfly, and sting like a bee....


    I have a 3 versions, a human THFer, designed for build and player simplicity, and a human and a halfling (TWF) version designed for veterans of the fight game, who understand TWF offer more dps through more procs.. However, I'm having a good deal of difficulty deciding which race is best suited for me, for this build concept. I'll start with the two human builds, because I think they are the easiest to build and maintain, and are more survivable. For those who'd like to forgo human, stay tuned for halfling and drow versions (rapier) that may be suitable to your liking. I can also see dwarves fit in well here, since they get dwarven axes and can benefit from defensive enhancements of their own.

    I love human for the self heal, extra feat, and HV (for to-hit and UMD).

    Can you imagine a Kensei fighter that can pop his own heal scrolls (and overall great self-heal), get sick DPS via sneak attack, have good trapsmithing abilities, evasion, and have some AC to boot?

    However, halflings get a few stackable dps enhancements that would synergise very nicely here.

    I need all you expert fighters to weigh in. Up for discussion are race, skills, feats and enhancements. Please dont recommend different classes, unless you are going to keep it brief and have strong math backing you up.. I've narrowed my choices to either human or halfling.

    HUMAN TWF: DUAL KOPESH

    For all you veterans out there, and anyone truly feeling froggie, here's my TWF variant. Massive DPS, self heal, UMD, & evasion. This fighter has amazing resilience, taking advantage of enhancements and feats to build a much more survivable melee than your typical pure bread fighter, barbarian, or rogue. Rangers have been used to fill this role many times, but I was looking for something a bit more in tune with today's DDO.

    Why
    Muhammad Ali? Why these classes? Surprisingly fast for a fighter. The 3 classes represent that Ali was the world heavyweight champion three times. Mike Tyson, Earnie Shavers, or George Foreman would be 20 barbarians without a doubt. This guys not a one punch KO artist, but can drop you in a flash when he can get you to fight, HIS fight.

    Ali was cagey, one of the greatest counter punchers that ever lived. He lived on the edges of the ring, using the entire ring to his advantage. Seldom would you see him strike first. His most meaningful punches you would barely see. Amazing endurance and self heal abilities for such a large man. Sound like I can either be talking about the Real Ali or this character?

    That's the idea I'd like to build on. Thank you in advance for any insight ya'll can give...

    Aside from the TWF/THF preference, I'd say you can safely lower con to 14 and give a boost to int for more skills. It's a nice boost to diversity that allow you to be decent dps, intim and no fail umd heal scrolls. Otherwise, it's a great split with good synergy.

    Human TWF-Rework for you

    A few suggestions:
    1) take a rogue level every 3rd level. your skill points will flow more evenly and you'll still maintain trap viability. It's not as fun as rushing to get to Kensi, but you're building for end game, not mid level
    2) take monk at level 9. At 9 you should have access to a +4 wisdom item. This along with AC bracers should put you on par or exceed your AC from armor.

    Differences:
    1) I reworked starting the starting stats. Dropped Str and Dex from 16 to 15 and Pumped Int from 8 to 12.
    2)I picked up the Rogue Assassin I pestige feat for some extra back stab damage.
    3) I skipped spot all together in favor of rounding out other skills.

    You could always swap back in Stunning blow in the place of Combat Exp since it is pretty nice to have

    Just curious, what does 7 levels of rogue give you over just 6 levels? I haven't played a rogue since the level cap was 14, but I recall that you get 1D6 SA every 3 levels so the break point would be rogue 6 not 7. Just thinking a better split might be 12 Ftr/6 Rogue/2 Monk for the extra feat.

    7th gives you a total Sneak Attack of +4d6

    Every odd lvl gives 1d6 so at 20 have 10d6 before capstone or anything else that adds to it.

    So at 7 gets 1d6 more sneak attack couple enhancements and such. Another monk gains 1 feat and evasion (already has from rogue)and on this build not needed.

    Nice, just looked it up on DDO.wiki, 7 levels of rogue gives you 4d6 SA damage (very nice). For some reason I was thinking the SA progression was 1,3,6,9,12,...and so on. Seems like even after so many years playing I can still learn something new.

    If this were EA's Fight Night, and not DDO, that might be a little easier to pull off!

    But since its not, you are just going to have to imagine that Ali is dual wielding kopeshes or other weapons of the trade.

    Ahhh yes, the new "classic" stunner build. Hmmm, so what would you do? Lemmie see, change STR to 18, switch slashing to bludgeon. Use a greensteel slasher in main hand an a warhammer +10 stunning in the off.

    Not bad! Not really my style of play... but I definitely like what you suggest, and didnt even think of this alternative. I know how nice stunning is, especially in epics. Personally monk melee is not my thing, so if you, or anyone would like to post a build with this class split, that may be helpful to some.

    uh, you totally misunderstood the point. You only get the benefits listed if you fight unarmed - so no greensteel slasher and warhammer in your offhand.

    You should have higher dps and better stunning potential with a set of handwraps and a pair of ToD rings than with dual khopesh

    Ahh, my bad. Thank you very much for link. Ok I glanced over the build and its a nice way to go, but not what I had in mind. Slightlly different playstyle. I prefer the options greensteel give you. I will be using weapons on my build, no question about it.

    I will not downplay going with that build however, nice either way
