I was just wondering if anyone else was having this problem.
To give a bit of background. I replaced my video card with an Nvidia 9800 GT with a gig of ram two weeks ago. After the installation, I logged into DDO and played for about three hrs with no issues.
Logged in again just Monday (13th) and Tuesday (14th) to take advantage of the DDO store specials. Again, no issues. (Granted was only logged in maybe 15m tops).
Then just yesterday (Wednesday the 15th) I logged in and decided to do some higher difficulty quests in Cerulean Hills. Mainly the one quest where you go help the farmer. Can't remember the name. Anyway, I was heading towards that area when the screen whited out. Since there was an orc wizard about I thought that it might be one of those spells that obscure vision so I initially didn't start to panic. That is until I couldn't move out of the area of the spell. So I hit recall and popped back into the harbor. Still whited out. None of the UI elements where affected so I figured it was just a glitch and logged out.
When I logged back in is when things started getting hairy. Thinking it was just a glitch with the client, I went back into the Cerulean hills and at the same place, the samething happened. Only this time it totally messed everything up to the point where I got a windows error saying that my display drivers had stopped responding. I ended up shutting down my system and rebooting.
After replacing the video drivers I decided to test it and loaded up WoW. Played for about 2 hrs and nothing happened. No glitches, no errors nothing.
Today (Thursday 16th), I loaded a new character up, figuring that maybe it might just be Cerulean Hills and tried that. Got to Korthos with no issues until I talked to the guy that gives you the quest for the scroll. (Sorry I don't remember the quest names). Then the graphics did the same thing. Smeared all over the screen, lagged my system to no end, but still, some of the UI elements where intact. (Didn't think of getting a screen shot till AFTER everything happened).
Killed the DDO client with no meltdown of video drivers this time and when I relogged back into the game, I lowered the video settings a notch and, for the time I was able to play, everything seemed to be smooth.
Switched over to WoW again and just got through with a 4.5hr play session with no graphic issues what-so-ever.
So, what this long winded explanation comes down to is this:
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
Is my brand new video card dieing on me? (I don't think this is the answer but I could be wrong).
Did something fubar the DDO client and should I uninstall it and reinstall?
Thanks for your help.
