Default Let me remove my loot from party chat

I think the option of viewing other peoples loot should be removed from the game. If I want someone looking at my loot then I should be able to check a box allowing them to. There are people in the game with a sense of entitlement to my loot just for being in the same party, disabling them from viewing my stuff would save both of us some grief. If there is a way of doing this already please clue me in.

I need help finding the flaw in my logic with this one.

    Thanks

I find that usually the highlight of my day, when someone says that it took 11 other people in a raid to help me get an item in the end chest and that entitles them to it also since it was obviously a mistake and assigned in my name.

I have a couple of reasons.

    1) A checkbox for every item? Sounds rather tedious and may add lag to the game. Lag is something we don't need.
    2) Let's people know what kind of person they're running with. I sure as hell don't want to run with a caster who will loot levik's shield, a caster who loots the seal of earth/chattering ring, or in general looting things that have 0 benefit to their class (certain builds excepted, of course, but there's no way a pure 20 sorc is going to have a use for a seal of the earth). What will result is that nothing will ever get shared because people will just claim they got trash.

Dunno, something just sounds wrong with the idea.

The solution to this is simple, solo quest. Poof! End of problem. Or if you prefer, run with people who enjoy play the same way you do. Lots of people play DDO, you are sure to find people of the same mind set as you. When you join someone else's group, ask how they deal with loot. If you do not agree, find a diffrent group. This is a simple and elegant solution to your problem.

i cant tell you how many items that i want have been pulled by guildies/pugs and when i politly asked if i could buy it, it was just given to me. and in most raids i go on people leave the raid loot in the chest so others can at least look at it first. but maybe you dont run with the same peeps i do.

    1. Not a checkbox for every item... A checkbox to see all or none.

    2. Nothing will get shared?? I find it hard to believe more than 5% of the player base would keep a bound item only to use it for vender trash. And even if 100% decided to be jerks, that doesn't change the fact that it belongs to them not you.

    but i appreciate the input

Its useful for when someone rolls on raid loot and then sells /trades it to someone else as you see who ends up looting it. For most groups rolling then handing it off or selling it off after you won the roll is instant squelch with every guild that was in that run.

Perhaps you shouldn't quest with other people mate.

Treasure in the chest assigned to me, may be more useful to someone else in the party.
If they want it I have no problem giving it too them.

If your a fighter that gets a wand of fireball, why wouldn't you offer it to the player that could use it?

How is it wrong for the wizard to ask for it?

You must remember that none of this is real, its all just pretend.

Please tell me why your so offended when someone asks for loot that was randomly assigned to you.

I'm actually looking for logical reasons why my loot is posted in party chat. Maybe it's my direct way of posting but you and some others are making assumptions about me that aren't true.

This is the best reason I've read so far. I have been that guy who won the roll and no item. There were only 3 of us in the quest at the time and it did urk me for a little while. I want to say it was his item to give to who he chooses but rolling is a concrete rule in this game. Maybe I'm wrong about bound items.

Right-click party tab / Set incoming / uncheck "Loot".

Sure, it wont stop everyone else seeing what you pull, but it will stop you finding out what the other members get.

    Will that be good enough?

No. That is the opposite of how I think it should work. I believe that an item in a chest belongs to the person who's name is next to it. Therefore it should be the choice of the owner wether or not he/she wishes to broadcast it to the party chat.

Thanks for the info, I'll remember that tidbit

In raids I like seeing what drop for other people because it helps me get more familiar with all of the various special items in the game, and where they come from. It's also been useful at times for other people to see what drops for me because they can tell me whether or not it's something that's worth having.

/Not signed. Loot should remain public information.

As a community, we should be sharing information, not hiding it from each other. If you don't like the comments you get from other players, either (a) find a way to act so that they don't feel provoked or (b) squelch them.

The Epic Seal of Earth was the only item in the game that gave +12% acid lore. My sorcerer went well out of its way to obtain a pre-nerfed version (new Epic Seal of Earth lacks the acid lore and instead has a near-useless +6 natural armor).

The nerfing will continue until morale improves!

It's a chest. You open it and you see everything in there. That's how they work.

Yes, I would not be opposed to seeing the items in the chest before they are picked up for all those RP's out there.

What's the point anyway, as they can see the loot in the chest before you take it ( and the messages appears).

That is unless you manage to loot the chest before anybody else had time to double-click/Use it.
