Default What to play? (warchanter or spellsinger?)

I want to make a bard. Right now I'm playing a cc specced wizard, now I know that the bard is never gonna be able to hit with cc like the wizard. but I thought it would be fun to play a build that was a little more party based. So im trying to decide whether I should go with a warchanter and go melee or to go spellsinger and use (albeit kinda gimped) cc. my main goal for this build will be buffs/healing and then cc/melee after that and I'm just trying to figure out which build is preferred by parties. which songs people want. I plan on going pure bard to 20 and I have access to drow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

People generally prefer War chanters because of the boost to dps through their stronger songs.

Of course, new songs are coming out shortly, so we'll see how things stand after that.

I have a level 14 Human Spellsinger (CON 14, CHA 18, STR 14 at creation), and had many of the same ideas/assumptions when I started (not experienced by any means, have also one Warchanter 8 and Pale Master 8).

I suggest human over Drow unless it is a must (RP, looks, etc). Now my SS has eaten a +1 CHA and a +1 CON tomes and has +5 CON item and Minos, and Toughness, and Greater False Life. And I still wish I had gone CON 16 for the little bit more HPs (and potencial for +20 more than what I can have at most as it is).

Your DCs will be fine if you use the best CHA items you can find, an Enchantment bracer (or weapon, etc). The DCs I get normally with those is enough to Dance, Charm, Suggest and Hold pretty much anything up to Hard. I am not carrying Hold anymore, focused spells on Buffs and Healing, got Heighten so even my Hypnotism is useful (skipped all charms), got both Suggestions still mainly to have it in two timers/cooldowns. APs go first on Attack/Dmg in Song, then Healing, then HPs, then CHA. I can say that the character worked well so far, obviously cannot wade blindly into dungeons, depends on planning or a group so his songs, buffs and occasional heal can REALLY shine. It takes him time, maybe a hireling, time on the Auction House to find weapons, Haggle, Wiki, etc (a couple brilliant friends and open ears too) and he gets the job done. I have fun, he gets loot, XP and skills.

That being said with my little playing of the Warchanter, you will solo much more easily and contribute to the group just as much, in a different way (CC being the most affected, except for Fascinate, buffs are always there and healing is expensive in scrolls and wands but is the same as your spells would be in a way).

Hopefully I could help and more experienced folks will also shine in.

Bard PrEs are getting their second tiers, and perhaps some reworking of the first tiers, in about a month.
So any advice given now might not hold true then.
