The Bad Part. These changes don't do anything to help THF combat while on the move, and most of the combat in DDO takes place while moving. In addition, the Two-Handed two step (i.e. twitch) gives you a signifciant attack speed boost and now I am wondering where it stands relative to just standing still when you can and getting these glancing blow bonuses. I'm going to throw out a wild guess that with whatever Half-Orcs get in combination with these changes you will be better off just standing still when you can.

max of 20% for special effects?
thats not enough.
60% damage is good.
Too bad Pallys dont get increases with Tiers from KotC, we are still a TWF class it seems.
I can say that these changes don't dissuade me from staying pure on my level 20 warforged bard and skipping the entire THF line, using twitching when I need to maximize my dps. Sure, I could get the entire THF line by going 18/2 or easily get it as 14/6 but there's just not enough benefit to THF to make it worth giving up what I get from staying pure simply to get slightly better glancing blows while stationary.
Why would a KotC get THF bonuses? Not that it wouldn't be nice, but the KotC is about infusing his power into his weapons to fight demons/devils and that does not necessarily translate into better skill with a 2-handed weapon.
I would also like to see the 20% weapon effect proc go up a bit, I would think 30% would be about right, but the 60% damage is a huge buff to glancing blows. I am quite happy about it.
so long as they dont nerf epic sos anymore, kotc is still a thf class , infact kotc + esos is the most damage a thf user can get in this game, and it rivals twf at this current time. if they were to buff kotc for thf then the gap would just get bigger!
First, THF effectiveness shouldnt be dependant on any particular PrE itself, because it is a fighting style that makes the options for character building broader. At the moment they make specific PrE lines better with a particular fighting style they pigeonhole an entire way of playing.
Second, while the ESoS is indeed superior in the hands of a Pure pally, that is only 1 way to build a character. Not to mention, Getting that weapon is in itself a task that will take any player several months of uninterrupted grinding to complete. Until then, the character will remain subpar because of the way Turbine decided to restrict fighting styles.
This does not change the fact that I ditched THF on my bard at all. No twitch = not worth it.
IDC what the others here are saying... I'm loving this. Yeah, some things were nerfed and won't be fixed. But this makes Barbs a viable end game class that will be really fun during level up. People after the absolute max uberness will have to pick a different class, but if 95% with extra fun thrown in is good enough for a person, Barbs will rock.

Not to derail to much but what is twitching?
Rule 1 Con is never a dumpstat Fortification is not optional
Rule 2 Be as self sufficient as you can be
Rule 3 Know your role

Moving on the second attack, thus interrupting the attack chain. By repeatedly doing only the 2 first and fastest swings, you increase your attack speed.

This will still do nothing for me.
I move because this is active combat. I move all the time. I'm not twitching, too much trouble against mobile targets, I'm just moving to mitigate damage and move in to kill stuff.
Disappointed and without trust in the powers that be.

I think it makes it better for the non-full bab toons like Bards and Rogue Acrobats. Also prior to this was it possible to get special effects on glancing blows? My THF is limited, but the biggest thing I see out of it is 9% chance to add the bonus which would allow GB to bypass DR.
I think it still gives a choice for certain builds to ignore the feats for others (see Classic Rocker bard). Acrobats are looking pretty cool with 20% faster attack 50% base damage to glancing blows, Dex mod added to SA, and the future of Acrobat III.
I see more THF barbs than other styles and it sounds like pure barb will dominate the GB department.
Overall I look forward to these changes.
So w/ just the full lvl 20 Barbarian You get 60% of base dmg dealt w/ glancing blows. Pick up the THF feats and it'll bump it to 90% with 29% chance to produce the special effects?
A Half Orc non Barb would get 80% base dmg on glancing blows.
No, as stated in the first post, full power is 60%/20%.
A Halforc/WF nonBarb with full feats and enhancements would be 50%/15% if I'm not mistaken.

The original calculation did not however include the bonus of frenzy and death frenzy to the chances for magical weapon effects. So it should go higher than 20% for the warforged/half-orc frenzied berserker with frenzies active. It would be nice for a dev to comment on the magnitude of the frenzy bonus, is it also 3% per frenzy?
Note that the frenzy and death frenzy vicious damage which currently applies to 100% of glancing blows is considered a bug and should only proc the same rate as other magical effects, so overall this is still yet another nerf (unless they don't fix that bug).
