A successful Will save negates this effect (DC = 10 + Wisdom Modifier + your monk level). This ability only functions on aberrations, extraplanar creatures that are not classified as 'Lawful Outsiders', and undead, and counts as a Light move. Creatures that are both extraplanar and either aberrations or undead receive double this effect. On critical hits, a tainted target will be locked in a tomb of jade on a failed Will save (DC = 10 + Wisdom Modifier + your monk level). Extraplanar Aberrations or Undead must succeed at two consecutive Will saves to avoid their fate.

It is unfortunate, but most do not even take these critters into consideration when building their characters. What they instead tend to look at is the last fight, the big kahuna, the difficult boss at the end of a raid with the hitpoints of the evil god's and deity's that they represent, and this equates to dps, dps, dps.
From what it appears, Jade Strike is designed to hit pretty much every raid boss(velah and titan and possibly reaver as exceptions). 10% more melee damage and 25% less fort is such a stupid amount more damage I'm seriously trying to do a 12/7/1 monk/paladin/rogue solar phoenix type build just for that ability.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I am pretty sure every pit fiend is classified as a Lawful outsider as well as an evil outsider- so that would mean the only raid bosses vulnerable are the queen, the hound, and the abbot.

I believe it was said that it will work on all outsiders except for the "Lawful Neutral" variety (which all monks are part of), not just the "Lawful Outsider" variety. Everything else is fair game.

Horoth, Suulomades, Arraetrikos, Lailat, Xyzzy, Abbot, are all fair game for this. Since none of them are specifically Lawful Neutral.

Mephits, Djinn's, Efreet's, Barbazuu, Bearded Devils, Orthon's, Beholder's, Rust Monsters(!), Lich-Form casters (*grins*) are also game.

All Monks are exempt from this ability, so Monk's in PvP will be a full close quarter's fist fight only.

You're absolutely right, after reading the rest of the thread. Looks very shiny.

Simply being a Lawful Outsider is not enough to be immune to Jade Strike (and other Shintao features). You'd have to be SO lawful that it's your defining trait. A creature from Dannvi might qualify, but not Shavarath.

I'm not exactly sure because i haven't been keeping up w/ this thread. I have been in a corner crying over my Touch of Death Nerf (sarcasm).

So i decided to play a little bit of Light Monk, just to see the some of the new attacks. It is cool, somewhat. I was testing in the Vale of Twlight where most of the enemies are Tainted. And what i noticed is:

Tomb of Jade - It's cool. you punch them, they turn all green and get auto-crited. Rather lengthly cooldown, but still fun to see.

Kukan-Do - Couple things i noticed here. Yes, it works on anything not just tainted enemies. So far your stunning wraps do not effect the DC. I tested this in the pvp pit with a friend. I was useing my Stunning +10 wraps, and the regular save on Kukan-Do was 29, wraps shoulve made the DC 39 but he rolled 13+17 and saved.

Smite - Only really powerful on a crit. Has a longer* cooldown, about 2x as long as Stunning Fist. So it's not like you can throw it constantly. And it is only effective against the Taint.

Jade Strike - This one is interesting. Not as fun as Tomb of Jade but the damage increase is noticible. I couldn't try it on anything that had heavy fort to see the crit part working. And i didn't get a natural crit with this strike so I can't confirm the entombment.

Dissmissal Strike - Does the same as the spell really. It's nice though because you get this move at lv12, which is the same time you're able to go to the vale.

There are some nice changes to Shintao Monk.

Wait, jade strike says it triggers on the tomb effect on a crit, so does this mean if you're autocriting a mob they get the ability reapplied on each hit? Because that would be awesome.

Jade Strike is a single active attack, not a persistent mode.

Yes, you can stun a creature and then put it into Jade Tomb.. but since it was already stunned, you're pretty much just buffing it with DR.

Thanks for the answer, and ya I know its a single attack, I was referring to the tomb on crits part which has a duration for the tomb.

buffing it with DR? Does creatures in Jade get DR?!

If not, then Tomb of Jade > Stun since it has a way longer cooldown timing (around 20+ seconds, compared to 10- seconds of stun)

Think Flesh to Stone except green.

Remember that monks stop noticing DR/Adamantine at level 16.

That is also true, but others that dont have DR bypass readily available might notice... But really its not a big deal since you are auto critting every shot.

A random thought(Shinto + ToD set), but the 'those with shinto III PrE now have good/evil bypassing on their unarmed attacks' - Really... what a waste?

Any monk who HAs this ring has 150% chance to have holy bursted it. Thats the good /dr passing...

and evil. WHAT mobs in game have that DR, beyond MAYBE the balls of light in running with the devils(and even these im not even sure they HAVE DR, so...)

Isn't this sorta like the acro set? Give an acro some +'s to abilities/skills which he would already have insanely high/capped just for being an acro?

Seems to me like giving a barb 'DR of 1/-(non stacking) if they have frenzied berserker III, or a cleric 'One more use of cure light wounds' or some other stupidly useless already 'owned' ability.

Not sure if anyone else has commented, but sometimes I wonder at the dev's, do any of them even PLAY the game?

Yeah, it was a weird bonus. I personally was hoping for +2 wis since it's harder to get +2stat for a monk as they put burst on their Incredible Potential rings. Failing that, a further +2 to hit.

But good/evil bypass was very unimpressive
