Default Which Spell Focus for a wiz?

i'm in the process of rolling a WF wiz17/rog2/ftr1

so far the feats i'll pick up in no particular order are maximize, extend, quicken, heighten, spell pen, gtr spell pen, mental toughness, imp mental, insightful reflexes, empower spell, and toughness.

i have room for one more feat and i was thinking of going with a spell focuz to help out w/ that lack of DC for picking up the fighter level ( picked up fighter not for extra feat but to save on spell points early levels instead of casting master's touch all day long ).

so, what spell focus whould i pick up that would help out maybe more so end game?

    Enchantment.

    Mass Hold

Master's Touch lasts until you rest. So you would have only spent 10 sp per rest shrine.

Do you understand the difference between Saving Throws / Spell DCs and Spell Resistance / Spell Penetration checks?

The Fighter level affected your Spell Penetration, not your Spell DCs. That being said, yeah, Enchantment, for Mass Hold.

    What rimble said.

If the main reason you took fighter was for martial proficiencies, then you should consider taking a barbarian level instead. The base movement speed and sprint boost are very addictive, and very useful.

However, I like to use the bonus fighter feat as either Improved Crit: Slashing or Power Attack (handy on portals and/or Held monsters). Plus, the fighter "Item Defense" and Toughness enhancements are pretty nice too.

Taking the fighter level just to make low levels easier is gimping yourself to be honest. Just go 18/2...

isnt the 2 rogue levels also majorly gimping spellcasting abilities? you lose out on a bunch of sp and the wizard capstone...and some spell slots. and some spell pen. plus you are a level (or 2) behind where you should be on spells, forcing you to use weaker choices during your trip to lvl20
