Red fens set?

I have a wf barbarian rite now and i was wondering is the red fens dmg set worth getting?

It takes the slot of the bracers and gloves- which is the slot for levicks bracers and spectral gloves....is that trade off worth it what do u guys think?

As you can enter the Red Fens at level 6 and those items only take a minority of runs to get them and it may take a hole lot longer till you get hand on the spectral gloves and levicks bracers I would say it is a nice set bonus item till you got the others and therefore worth it.

Worth it at lower levels before you can equip that stuff if you already have them. As for afterwards, look at it this way.

Set:
+3 str
+2 damage
+2 con
+7 intim
Mod fort (100% for WF)
+10% incite

Others:
+5 dex (+3 reflex save)
+6 str
+2 to hit
+ghost touch
+20% heal amp

On paper it sounds like the raid items are probably better, unless you don't have fort or use other items/bard to give you similar bonuses. However, heal amp doesn't help with repairs, so the other set is a good choice when hate tanking & being reconstructed.

I used to wear Levicks/Spectral... however my wf fighter now wears claw set.
+2 Damage, Heavy fort (Med fort on bracers)
That's gonna allow me to drop my Minos helm, and gives me the same damage as a tod set!
.. plus only takes ~hour to get

I have the spectral gloves atm (lvl 11) and the minos helm but u make good points. So i am assuming ill use spectral gloves only when i am fighting incorporals then.

Use bracers and gloves for the set and than get a Str ring of +6 or something of that nature and a dex ring as well?

Seems like most people like the red fens set even at high levels? Cause i am just concerned how useful they are end game wise, seems most think it works end game.

I wear the Vulkoor's Might set all the time currently and it is one of the nicest parts of my ideal setup.

Bracers of the Claw (epic or non-epic) completely eliminate the need for a GS Min II accessory or Minos Legends helm, which frees up those slots for more important DPS-boosting gear. Leviks gets thrown out immediately along with any GS that could possibly fill that slot.

Gloves of the Claw before epic are only worth the slot for the +2 set damage bonus. When upgraded, the 30% healing amplification becomes the most attractive aspect of the setup. It stacks quite well with Docent of Blood or Dragontouched Docent. The +4 set damage bonus and 30% threat amplification are also useful in both max DPS and tanking situations. The threat amplification is not a drawback either, as the gloves can be swapped out at will.

The setup outshines Epic Spectral Gloves in just about every situation. The only times I ever swap those gloves back in are when:

- Fighting incorporeal Quori / Undead.
- Missing an epic boss on low rolls.
- Dodging traps when soloing or in groups without an active Rogue (Dex bonus jumps from +2 to +4).

In my opinion, it's currently a must-have.

Raven is terrible and is outclassed by Epic Spectrals in every way possible.

If you're comparing Levik's to the Claw set, then compare it to the epic Gloves of the Claw. Epic gloves provide 30% healing amp, making it a no-brainer.

The Raven set conflicts with the Claw set. The Claw set is superior to the Raven set.

epic set is an obvious choice to swap out leviks/spec gloves, non-epic is iffy, +2 damage is always good and +10% incite is nice as well. as for me... I currently use my hp item as gloves so.... no swapping claw for me!

So would it be better to use the non epic claw set bracer over the bracers of glaciers for the cold shield proc? for better dps.

personally I consider just about anything better than levicks on my barbs. I really really hate those bracers.

Seems to be one of the better melee sets right now imo.

If you need more to-hit just swap in the Spectrals for a +4 (and a Destruction DT).

Any word on what the Bracers look like epic'd? I'm really anxious to see whats going to be on them.

Barbarians have the highest +hit in the game. Aside from some freakishly high AC mobs like epic Rayium, epic Msomething (succubus) from Big Top and epic VON6 trash, barbs don't have +hit problems. In the few cases they do, someone else is already using Destruct and Improved Destruct effects to lower the AC for other classes.
