    Default TR'ing a Sorc

I've read many posts about Sorcs TR'ing one, two, three, four, one hundred times to get the past life feats of wiz or sorcs so i started to wonder..is it really necessary to get those feats to become usefull in epic contents? Im almost a lvl 20 pure sorc with newbie equip and the idea of TRing and gettin again to lvl 20 doesnt really make me happy and joyfull..i was thinking more for a GR since ive messed something up with my build..what do you guys say about it? Is the TR a MUST?

The Wizard active past life feat is incredibly powerful on a Sorc, but not necessary at all. It's a worthwhile bonus if you like relevelling.

What matters most on a Sorc at endgame is gear and spell selection. You *really* need ToD or Shroud-crafted Exceptional Charisma items (ToD rings are better, Shroud weapons are easier to get), a Greater Enchantment Focus item (possibly Dreamsplitter), a +2 or better Cha tome, and general survival gear (+6 Con, Heavy Fort, Greater False Life, etc).

Spellswise, (not counting the basic buffs like Haste and Resist Energy), Mass Hold Monster is the single best spell in Epics, and Waves of Exhaustion and Reconstruct are the best two spells in raids. Wall of Fire, Otto's Irresistable Dance and Mass Suggestion are all pretty much essential as well (although not really used much in the main raids).
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

There is a big flaw currently with the TR system. That is the fact that you lose all tomes that you have applied to your character. This is a really big disincentive to TR. I don't in any way understand why the designers made this decision.

In essence any tomes not just +2, but +3 and +4 tomes that took months to gain as raid loot and were applied to your toon are lost forever. Another small issue is that your raid completion timers are reset to 0. So, ironically, TR can actually be worse for your tune than not in many cases. It can takes months to recover these loses.

The quest for a caster in this game, imo, is for a higher DC. I really don't believe the designers have this point of view or at least don't understand it. The current tome flaw has really taken the value out of tomes for knowledgeable players. It is kinda foolish to grind for one or buy one if its effects will be lost when you TR. Many people are banking their high level tomes now instead of applying on toons they plan to TR. This coupled with the changing of application level has caused the demand for these items to drop to an all time low.

It's not essential to TR, but there are significant advantages for doing so.

If you can stomach (Or in rare cases even enjoy) a multiple TR Grind involving 3 Wizard lives before heading back to a Sorcerer, you can gain a huge bonus to your Spell DC which is more important for Epics.

Three past life wizard feats = +6 to your spell penetration. If the goal is to run epics, you can drop the spell pen and greater spell pen feats you would have normally taken as a sorc and take Enchantment + Greater Enchantment focus.

I'm not 100% on this, but I would guess that the wiz past life feat would stack with both of those to give you a total of +3 DC to enchantments (Mass hold) over a single life sorcerer and would have a slightly better (+2) spell pen check.

It has its advantages, but it takes time.

I agree with the other posters that gear and spell selection are more important than the passive past life feats from either Sorc or Wizard.

That being said, there is a big upside to doing TR as a wizard at least once if not twice for a end-game Sorcerer. As you know Sorcerers don't get any bonus feats. This is the biggest limiting factor to customization and improvement to your Sorc at end game.

The typical feats that you would go for as a pure Sorc would be:

Toughness (can give a human up to 70 extra HPs, a warforged up to 80 extra HPs)
    Extend
    Maximize
    Empower
    Heighten
    Spell Penetration
    Greater Spell Penetration

By going with a Wizard TR, you get a +2 to your Spell Pen. This allows you to either have a higher spell pen based on the normal feats for a Sorc, or you can skip taking the Greater Spell Penn feat and instead go with a spell focus feat to increase your DCs. With 2 Wizard TRs then back to Sorc, you could also replace the Spell Penn feat as well and focus more of your DCs.

This is the best way to maximize your feat selection for a Sorc. That being said - it is a lot of work to TR once let alone twice or more...

I think you should outfit your Sorc as best as possible before any TR and also either skip raiding or wait until you hit your 20th for the raids that you want so that you can have a good chance at a high level tome or the raid loot you weren't able to get in the previous 20 runs.

Save all tomes that are +3 or better (if you can afford to use +2's or save all +2 or great tomes) until you have done all that you want TR-wise with you toon.

    Hope this helps!

I just finished gaining all my items ready for TR the other night and TRed and even though it is ALOT of experience when I get to my final build I will be a monster compared to before, so yes it is worth it definitely as long as you have enough play time.
