Default WF Wiz vs Sorc builds ?

i'm looking for a WF THF caster build. i've seen a lot of wiz18/xxx builds and a few sorc/xxx/xxx builds using WF out there but whats the difference. I've read that wiz's are CC's and Sorc's are nukers. i'm fairly new to DDO so whats the difference?

is it that wiz's focus on DC spells and Sorcs focus on just lots of SP and DPS spells?

also, which would do better as a THF? this is compairing mainly to a WF wiz18/ftr2 vs a sorc16/ftr2/monk2?

    many thanks in advance.....

If you want to melee, I'd recommend a WF 17 Wiz/2 Rog/1 Barb ( 17 Wiz/2 Monk/1 Fighter if you have no use for trap skills).

Evasion, excellant reflex save from Insightful reflexes, full access to all arcane spells, and only needs 3 abilities - Int, Str, and Con. The spell points you lack from going sorc can be made up with pots and gear.

If you want to have the best spell DPS, go pure sorc.

Pure casters are sought after in raids... Multi-class ones are for expert players with tons of gear...

I would highly recommend a wizard for a new player.. Wizards can change spells at will which lets you play with all the different spells... Wizards also get 5 more feats than sorcs, so you can also get all the meta-magik feats and learn which ones you like.

I make all my mules 18str/17con veteran WF'ed sorcs. They can pretty much hack all the way up to 150 coin lord favor and by this time it does not take much more to get to level 8 and and roast your way to 150 house K favor. Plus they have great carrying capacity.

That being said I made an actual str Sorc I plan on capping, u get enough non DC spells that u can still be effective. Just something I like to play around with.

WF'ed wizards are really nice even with the two lower INT score behind drow for their awesome survivability, plus they have the feats for spell schools and spell pen.
