Default A Thread Dedicated to Claisen the Bard

When someone does something heinous, they get roasted on these boards. So the same should apply to someone who does something special.

It's late. I set up a PUG to farm Tor for scales. I have 4 ranger/rogues and a fighter lined up. No arcane. No divine. Not good.

So I get this request to join from a Bard and I've never played with a bard before. She tells me I should fit her in because she knows the level and it's unlikely I'd be able to optimize the party at this time of night. Naturally I agree and meet 'Claisen the Bard'

We decide to start the ambush and hope for a cleric or arcane to join...but it never happened. Then we had one person leave and another just plain drop. That leaves me (Ro16/Ra2/Fi2), Claisen, a dwarf fighter and a ranger who has never been through Tor before and...is deaf. She is honest with us about her inexperience and inability to voice.

So we decide to take it one step at a time with Claisen and I debriefing the group as we go. We worked really well together and generally made it a point to look after the other 2. This is not to suggest that our fighter dwarf wasn't capable. He outright rocked. I fired up a cleric hireling and told people I would apply mass heals when I could but that they should not expect heals-on-demand because I am just not capable of multi-tasking on that level with a hireling.

Claisen was super friendly, encouraging and patient the entire way through. She couldn't buff us like a sorc or wizz can but she did a **** fine job. And she had us nicely 'inspired' which was neat to experience for the first time. If that wasn't enough, she was insanely deadly with her bow. She seems to have some uber gear and...get this...she lent an epic bow to our party member who had never done Tor before (so she could be better equipped for one of the dragons). Remarkable considering she JUST met this person.

We started with the white dragon/giant and killed the dragon early...causing it to respawn and we almost wiped because of it (and because of a blunder I made with my hireling but that's another story). But we hung on and got the loot.

We did black next, fearing the blue might end our luck. But by this time we were working so well together, the black and blue dropped almost effortlessly by comparison. Everyone was confident, well instructed and nicely buffed...primarily due to Claisen.

Claisen the Bard watched us 3 all pull scales and she got none but she remained as pleasant as when she first said 'hello'.

She's a very special player and you should roll with her if you ever get the chance. Hands down, she is my favorite toon in all of DDO.

Here's to you Claisen the Bard (raises mug of ale)

Claisen was in my TOD PUG last night, and got the rare Bard ring, consider it Karma. You do nice things, nice things happen.

nice tale. Proof to all a bard is truly able to be a great master of all trades. I rather grow weary of the endless tirade agianst bards on the forums and its nice to hear someone appreciate things like thier songs.

My bro has a battle bard who he really loves but the endless grief he gets from others really wears down the interest to play the game at all.
