Question One Day Only Sale - Character Slot 297 or 298?

Last time the Character slots were on 50% sale they were advertised for 297, the showed up in the DDO Store as 297.

But once you made a purchase Turbine stole 1 TP and charged 298.

Could you please check if this is still the case, and if so please update your misleading advertisement:
    http://www.ddo.com/ddostoreonedaysale

I know if I stole 1 TP per transaction from Turbine [you can't purchase more than 1 chr slot per transaction] I'd be banned from the game quick smart. Give your customers the same level of protection.

    Thanks for the testing.

Once again Turbine has let the community down. Really, can we please please please address these very common and easily avoidable mistakes.

I'll offer my services to proof read and check all the stuff that you're going to upload, free of charge. My desire for you guys to get it right for the Community, and not come off as .... I think I'll stop there.

Wow, are you really making all this fuss over one point?

It's probably a rounding issue that's rounding one way on the sale display and another in the actual transaction.

Have you tried contacting Turbine about this? I'm sure they will give you your point back.

1 TP over tens of thousands of accounts over thousands of purchases, is a lot of Turbine Points. TP have a monetary value and the advertised price should be the charged price. Also for that FREE player farming out ever little bit of favor for TP's, 1 TP can make a difference.

Unlike a 'real world' store they don't have consumer affairs or regulatory obligations. But do have a duty of care to their customers.

Yes it is a rounding issue. The issue is, that previously it's been noted and observed by player and Turbine alike. The web site is manually done, the store is manually done. So there should be no excuse to why it does not reflect the true purchase price.

There are Account Management Section threads on it from last time, ignored by Turbine that time too.

I'm glad to see you've fixed the display and advertised price point for the up coming 50% sales to reflect the actual billed/invoice price.

See that action will save on any perceived theft. Hopefully this has effected positive change and duty of care thought for your customers over there at Turbine.

I still feel it's pretty weak not to acknowledge the error at Turbine, as it has happened quite a lot in the past. But hopefully you'll be more mindful in the future.

Yeah, there have been a bunch of rounding errors in the store - it's not as bad as cheating customers out of over 300 points, but it was still annoying, I even submitted a bug report about it. Glad to see it seems to have been fixed.
I see what you did there!

Good to see Turbine fixed it... Nice catch OP...

I still think you're over-reacting with the "letting us down again" comment...

Try to keep things in perspective. You could have pointed out this simple error without the attitude..

And you sure won't acknowledge the fact that they listened to a customer, and fixed a problem later on will you? Instead it will be, "once again, Turbine disrespected my grandma!"

You say Nice catch OP and then give me a -neg.

2 million new users have joined DDO since they game started. You 'steal' 1 TP from each of those people that's can add up to over $30,000 dollars. In vast quantities little bits add up, Turbine know this. Their whole Micro Business model is based on small transactions adding up.

I spoke too soon, it wasn't fixed in game.

Also the attitude came due to the fact this is the 3rd or 4th time it's appeared due to sales. The 1st and 2nd times I was more forgiving. If you look at some of the past Store feedback threads, you'll see a consistent disregard from Turbine regarding 100% accurate sales information. From guest passes to temporary sales.

I have no issues with acknowledging when they fix or do things right, did you see my last post before this one?

But then they go and do this:

In game, and what is said is being charged

    Out of game

I wonder what would have happened if I only had 297 TP left in my account ...

You cannot be informed to be charged one price and then have them change it on the back end without prior notice to the customer.

Seems I was too quick to rejoice, the rounding errors are still present - for example, the Monk class was listed at 397 points today and it also said so on the in-game receipt, but I was charged 398.
I see what you did there!

I received this e-mail today, for the ticket I submitted regarding the incorrect in game invoice and external invoice prices.

I guess it covers all the transactions I made that the invoices were in correct:
    Greetings XXXXXX,

Thank you for your inquiry. A refund of 10 Turbine Points has been processed for the recent purchases that were priced incorrectly. These points are available for immediate use within the DDO Store.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please respond to this email, and we will be happy to assist you.

    Thank you,
    The Turbine Customer Service Team
Hopefully they will address the issue at the source. I wonder if others have automatically received a rebate, but I doubt it.

You think the fact they've refunded in the past, that they would fix the pricing issue.

The current 2-day character slot has the same pricing missmatch.

No I did not receive a rebate automatically.

You're right, that's a lot of points if added up across thousands of customers.
Please split the class forums into REAL subcategories this is a jumbled mess.

Whats funny is last week I found a real life example of this.

At my work we have a cafe we can go to instead of leaving the building for food. In the cafe they let you use a refillable cup (they are very green) and they only charge you for the refill. When I buy one for myself, it is $0.54. When I buy one for myself and my wife, it is $1.07.

I thought of you when I saw this, Rumbaar.

The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

Yeah that it does, and it amazes me still when people say it's 'only' 1 TP. It's a shame they do not fix the source of the issue, but while the masses don't care. Turbine reaps the rewards, perfect customers.

Peter Gibbons: [Explaining the plan] Alright so when the sub routine compounds the interest it uses all these extra decimal places that just get rounded off. So we simplified the whole thing, we rounded them all down and drop the remainder into an account we opened.
    Joanna: [Confused] So you're stealing?
Peter Gibbons: Ah no, you don't understand. It's very complicated. It's uh, it's aggregate, so I'm talking about fractions of a penny here. And over time they add up to a lot.
Joanna: Oh okay. So you're gonna be making a lot of money, right?
    Peter Gibbons: Yeah.
    Joanna: Right. It's not yours?
Peter Gibbons: Well it becomes ours.
Joanna: How is that not stealing?
Peter Gibbons: [pauses] I don't think I'm explaining this very well.
    Joanna: Okay.
Peter Gibbons: Um... the 7-11. You take a penny from the tray, right?
    Joanna: From the crippled children?
Peter Gibbons: No that's the jar. I'm talking about the tray. You know the pennies that are for everybody?
    Joanna: Oh for everybody. Okay.
Peter Gibbons: Well those are whole pennies, right? I'm just talking about fractions of a penny here. But we do it from a much bigger tray and we do it a couple a million times.

@Craigers07 exactly, I wonder why people don't get this and always comment "It's only 1 TP, why worry".

Cool movie though .... If only Turbine had a boss like that ... "I'm going to have to get you to come in on Sunday"

I've noticed this in past sales as well as this one, and the 1TP each time has added up to 15TP for me.

I could send in a report on each transaction, but then I would have to send in 15 separate reports; which would only inconvenience me and the Turbine staff. Flooding Turbine with a report for each one is tempting, though. If someone dares me to do it, I will. LOL

Thankfully Turbine did refund me the 375TP overcharge from the Necropolis bundle bug.
