Default Holy Blossoming Giraffe Head Stew (aka WF Immunities)

Don't ask me why I am just finding out about this after playing DDO for over 4 months. Anyways, I just stumbled across a post from some dude explaining why his WF monk is the best tank in the game...so I did some investigating. And what I uncovered was shocking:

You have to be kidding me right? No getting held or level-drained? Ever??? Total disease immunity? Does that mean no fear of being blighted or mummified as well? I knew WF had some advantages worth purchasing but I had no idea it was this heinous. If you take this feat, know that you are thrusting your fist into the torso and ripping the guts out of everything that is Dungeons and Dragons. More like 'Dungeons and Potpourri'. I can understand Turbine wanting to create a class that makes DDO more accessible to younger/newer players...fine. But if you are any self-respecting gamer or D&D fan, I know you could not possibly be playing a warforged anything.

No dread from fighting undead and beholders?

When I see your WF from now on, I am going to be thinking this:

And your guides and youtube videos, showing people how 'solo this' or 'defeat that' with your WF toon? It gets filed under 'usefulness', along with this:

And on behalf of all of us who play traditional races with all the traditional frailties, you just got served suckah!

75% of every death I experienced grinding my toon to 20 was because I failed a save and got held/slowed or heavily stat/energy drained so KNOW that you are playing in god mode when you play a warforged.

PS. this post is mostly a joke because I am bored and the servers are down for maintenance. But feel free to flame me regardless. If your comments/insults are too harsh, no worries. I will just stumble over to the DDO Store and buy myself a WF which probably comes with Immunity: Hurt Feeling From Forum Posts as well.

I should mention at this point that my WF monk and rogue do not have all these immunities because I've decreed that all my characters shall be played with a level of challenge equeal to and above that of the normal gamers experience: only to give other party members a feeling of equality when I am in their group. This has been decreed and Turbine has delivered like a good hireling.

Rust monsters really tear up WF, if that makes you feel better.

It would...if there were more than 4 of them in all of DDO.

    Default for reference

Turbine DID NOT give warforged these traits...DnD core rules did
    Quote and link included:

A warforged possesses the following traits –

Unlike other constructs, a Warforged has a Constitution score as well has Hit Dice.

A Warforged can see normally in all light conditions, its vision is impaired only in complete and utter darkness.

Because it is free-willed unlike other constructs, a Warforged is not immune to mind-affecting spells and abilities.

A Warforged has the following immunities – to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, disease, nausea, fatigue, exhaustion, effects that cause the sickened condition, and energy drain.

A Warforged can heal Hit Point damage normally, either by rest, repair, or magical healing. It CANNOT heal Critical (CON) Damage naturally – only magical healing can restore a Warforged’s Constitution.
    http://dnd-realm.blogspot.com/2009/10/warforged.html

Original rules however limited warforged to these classes:
    Allowable Classes
Fighter, Rogue, Cleric, Wizard, and Assassin.
    (also shown in link)

SOOOOOOO...the actual Issue here is that Monks, Barbarians, Sorcs, Favored Souls..... according to the original concept are not allowed.....I think I will take the fact that the immunities are there as originally designed...AND the fact that my monk and Barb are allowed :P as per 3.5 ruleset be glad this game is based on 3.5 rules not previous rulesets.

    Understood.

But understand that I understand why Turbine provides access to the WF. That is not the essence of my parody.

If you pay Turbine enough money, they will let you create an elder, ethereal, undead, vampiric, lich-i-fied dragon that fires CR37 elder beholders from its armpits. The question IS...

Do you make one? Then show everyone how awesome you are with it

The funny bit being is that some of these immunities were just additional resistances when DDO was released. It took a lot of complaining to actually get them fixed.

Even then people didn't want Warforged in their groups. It was the most hilarious racism ever and actually recreated a good feeling of the PnP version as a lot of people wanted nothing to do with them.

    Default Isn't this Eberron?

In some of the tomes of old, it's mentioned how the warforge race was created by Artificers of House Cannith for use in The Last War. Next time your running through Korthos manufactury, look for any paintings of your fellow party members... maybe they were crafted there...

I've heard tales of warforge who lay lifeless on the battlefield for years, only to be discovered and cleaned up and brought back to working condition. It's not all enchanted distallate for our construct friends. There are more rusteez and ooze in the game that you lend credit too... and it can be taxing on a traditional servant of the Silver Flame to keep them functioning in battle...

Despite my best efforts to control these creations with a dragontouched human sorcerer of House Cannith, they seem to run with free will and varying levels of intelect....

1 more turn from the house glass...

I guess I just don't understand where you are going with this. Many of us play this game because of it's (even slight at times) resemblence to pen and paper. This race is allowed AND played in PNP with these rulesets. As a matter of fact I know many friends that play WF in PnP. I really Do not see this as an EASY button when WF do have some disadvantages. Especially at lower levels or with inexperienced players when it comes to healing. It took me 4 years to finally build a WF i was really happy with..Need healing amp and the right gear to survive damage as well as some other races. I just see WAY too many other "easy" buttons in this game that far outweigh what the WF advantages may be. And please understand that I am not trying to argue with you. Just speaking my opinion. cheers and have fun in game.

Oh, I appreciate your comments Ughh. And I def. want this to remain light-hearted, as was intended. There really is no serious agenda or devious plan on my part. In fact, if the devs weren't killing my mojo with this downtime...I would have been trying to solo Ghosts of Perdition successfully instead. I keep failing miserably during the fourth wave of battle with Cholthultzz...because, ironically, I am getting level drained to death each time

Ya, I am rocking the SF Talisman but it is working overtime on this quest and *just* runs out of gas in the final stretch. Having a hard time closing the deal.

The immunities isn't what makes a WF the best tank. It's the ability to be repaired by arcanes, and to be repaired even with healing curse.

    Brute fighting helps too.

The immunities is just a bonus.

Except for the energy drain and paralysis, I'm pretty sure a monk has the rest of those covered as a class as well as SR starting at lvl 13. As far as immunities are concerned wf aren't superior as a monk.

They also get -2 to 2 stats IE the opposite of DROW. And they have the ugly 50% healing from divine sources for a base healing point.

So yes they have alot of good things...they should with the bad things they also have.

There is no choice in taking the feat, as it is an inherent feat, that all warforged get at first level. Unless you take their hepa filter out.
On Argo I play: Allandra Lvl 17 Rogue, and a few others.

It took you that long to figure out that WF are the supreme race?
In case you didn't already notice, my posts that end with must NEVER EVER, under any circumstances, be taken seriously.

Ehhh, that's not any stretch of official rules at all. That's someone's variant for a variant setting/rules.
There's no Assassin base class in (3.5) D&D.
