    3 qualifications to the above:
    1) PvP changes do not affect PvE gameplay
    2) Nothing can be earned in PvP beyond cosmetic/trophy style rewards. Certainly an e-peen stroker, but there is no character build advantage to PvP'ing.
    3) The focus of DDO remains PvE gameplay

The impression that I get is that a decent number (up to perhaps a vast majority) of people feel that PvP does not belong in DDO. I guess I don't really understand this. The sentiment that PvP needs to be taken out of DDO seems odd to me. As with anything, it is only an option. If you hate it, there is a very simple solution of choosing not to participate.
Of course if they had infinite resources I wouldnt care but they dont.

Also, try playing the game for more than a month. Some of us has been here since Beta. Not myself, but not the point.

And by 'Beta', I mean NOT DDO:EU Beta that was last fall. I've seen some new players since last fall that claim to have been here 'since beta'. And when they say 'since beta' they mean the F2P beta.

This isn't something you're going to win.

    lol

Sorry, I had just had this flash forward to DDO PvP epeener #741 QQing on the forums when his awesomest 3000 kills toon sporting teh uber Arena season 2 fuscia hair gets laughed out of an epic DQ raid after the leader looks him up on myDDO.

The not so funny side of that is when he'll wonder why he has to level a seperate PvE toon and start grousing about DDO balancing PvE for PvP toons. >.<

    DOOOOooooooooMMMMmmmmmm!!!!111!!!!111!!!!!

    1. Caster casts power word stun
    2. ???
    3. Profit.

If you don't change the rules or limit certain spells it is unfair.

Actually some spells are unbalanced altogether >> but I think PvP would work better if certain spells were altered for effect ONLY in PvP. That way PvE can enjoy PvE, PvP can enjoy PvP, and everyone's fine :P

adding to my recommendations, thanks for the critique

If you talk about winning, PvP is "going" to be implemented eventually.

PvP = more moneymaking oppurtunities = going to happen. Just a matter of when and how, I want to push for at least the when >> (after we get all the important stuff and bugs cleared).

Even under those conditions i would say NO. I simply cant stand the type of people you start to get with PvP Games. People running next to you and spamming youwith Duell Invites like in WoW (which was the main reason i stopped playing that 3 month after release) then people talking about how they could "pwn" me. Then the kind of language this kind of braindamged indiviuals use. Or the Duells people want to do after i told them that they are bad players with even worse toons. (Yes that happened even with the current PvP)

Simply No to PvP. this is a crowd i dont want to play with. If DDO ever incorporates PvP (the current state is barely tolerable) i would cancel my subscription in the minute.

I dont like PvPers. And therefore i will oppose every version of PvP DDO supports.

I can accept that opinion, and agree to some extent. PvP does draw a lot of immature, rude, and overall stupid players who like to show off and act like creeps to the people who enjoy PvE. I'm looking for a cure >> without executing them (though I doubt anyone would object).

The only recommendation I can make for this is not implementing Duel features, only arenas, and making PvP sections get their own chat. That way PvPer's stay in the PvP area and PvE'ers can enjoy their content without constant annoyance.

If these things aren't added in all I can say is that I hope you enjoy DDO while it lasts :/ cause as I said earlier, PvP "will" happen, it's just a matter of how and when.

It's been 5 years if they were going to something for pvp they would have = not gonna happen.

They've had 5 years and they still haven't even filled out the basic classes and races?

Well that should say something about how much time you have left till they implement PvP I guess ;D

    tl;dr, but...

I will say this: I would like Turbine to create a much better pvp system (and balance) IF and ONLY IF Turbine has infinite resources (since any fraction of infinity is still infinity of the same order). Since Turbine does not have infinite resources... I do not want them working on pvp. I would rather have a perfected pve game with no pvp and a separate pvp game with no pve than a junk game with both pvp and pve.

PvP will be implented eventually... Sept 10 LoTRO goes f2p, viola, implented.

    DDO is DDO

LoTRO abit more like WoW exept PvP is the end reward, peep vs creep as it were. Either way Turbine wins. Keep the niche and WoWbies have a place to go. Seperate DDO stores guarantee the ching ching for the bling bling keeps flowing.

There is a Turbine game already active with Player-vs-Player content in it by design. When Lord of the Rings Online goes Free-to-Play on September 10th, 2010, Player-vs-Player content will be available for free.

    DDO is DDO
DDO is not a Player-vs-Player game by intent or design.

LoTRO abit more like WoW exept PvP is the end reward, Freep vs Creep as it were. Either way Turbine wins. Keep the niche and WoWbies have a place to go. Seperate DDO stores guarantee the ching ching for the bling bling keeps flowing.
The playstyle of LOTRO is designed more like that game by Blizzard that is heavily weighted towards Player-vs-Player play. Since the playstyle will be more familiar to players looking for heavy PvP content, the PvP content of LOTRO should be more appealing to them than any in DDO, thereby leaving DDO to remain primarily PvE. As Turbine owns both DDO and LOTRO, the parent company will still make the money for purchases in either game.

    TTFN,
Thank you for reading, see you around.

Many, many thanks and +1. It was all so clear after a 6-pack of Bass Ale. I just sort of figured that everybody would understand the shorthand of my intoxicated mind. I'll have to start breathalyzing myself before posting. lol

Awesome... rewards for pvp... yeah i'll have my friends create an endless series of f2p accounts. And i'll beat them down over and over. I'll have all the rewards in no time.
And then i'll do the same for them! We'll be so uber.. Pwn all the noobs in record time.

    How about NO!

Why do these threads keep popping up by the same few people about pvp.. You know 99% of the people here despise or at least dislike pvp and will attack you. And yet the threads keep comming....

If you want pvp.. theres PLENTY of other games that offer it. Or cater to it especially out there... Most of them are empty or dying. We've all left those games because WE DON'T WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH PVP! So you come here where the people are... and demand pvp?!?!

    I don't get it...

Actually I've only seen about 50% of the people here who hate the concept of PvP in general. A lot of people seem to just not want Turbine to move workers over from PvE to PvP (read the last part of my post, there's a reason I inserted that quote :P).

Actually #2, games with PvP focus that implemented it well are THRIVING right now.

Actually #3, some people come to games like this because they want to play with a versatile and evolving environment (or at least remember the versatile and evolving environment in PnP). This place isn't just populated by people who hate PvP and thus want nothing to do with it.

    Simple Point:
If you don't like PvP then don't play it. As long as PvP doesn't alter PvE then you are mostly unaffected. We players who want to enjoy both sides of gaming have just as much a right to voice our opinions about PvP as you do so please don't be rude about it.
