There is only one shared bank you can buy (with twenty slots). It works on all servers, but is only available to the characters on each server for use between them. You can get an upgrade that will give you ten more slots.

Could that be your own personal bank and not the Shared bank?

No, its the shared bank, where all your characters on a specific server can have access. I'm looking in the ddo store under premium items/account options.

So "more" shared bank space is new in the DDO store, but it is not in the release notes (FVS hirelings are). I think we can go to 40 now, since wasnt it always called EXTRA shared bank space?

Yeah, I think they added an option to buy another 10 slots for the same (ridiculously expensive - just my opinion) price. The 10 slot upgrade is now listed twice in the store (used to be only one), so it would make sense that one could buy both, for a total of 40 slots.

Again, the description could be better written. If it allows up to 40 now then it should say so and if it requires you to have 30 slots before buying it should say that as well.

And if it allows up to 40 now, I'm gonna be 995 tp poorer before today is over.

Unlike character bank or backpack space, shared space can be useful. Especially if you are like me, and you have 7 characters below lvl 6 to reroll as soon as you unlock 32 point builds....

This is an additional 10 shared bank spaces on top of the other 30 you can buy (Shared bank 20 + additional 10). Because this is an account level unlock you can only buy it once (and can't circumvent the filter stopping you from buying again), so you don't need to worry about "wasting" Turbine points on it.

It would be REALLY easy to avoid a lot of this kind of confusion with a little forethought in the store descriptions.

Shared bank - for XXX TP (gives you 20 Shared Bank Slots)
Extra Shared bank space - for YYY TP (unlocks 10 more shared slots increasing the shared bank to 30 slots, (requires shared bank)
Even More Shared bank space - for YYY TP (unlocks 10 more shared slots, increasing the shared bank to 40 slots (requires extra shared bank space already)


Give each expansion a slightly different name and simply make the Item description more accuracte and informative.

This MADE MY DAY! I use and abuse the shared bank, and 10 more slots makes my life soooooo much easier. Keep it coming...50, 60, 100 spaces! I'll take out a home equity line if I have to to buy TP for this!

Now to start plotting my secret credit card techniques so the wife doesnt see the charges!

While I can see a possible "why" this was done this way, it also ends up making the store look confusing since it almost seems to just be a double entry. It also seems like it would be more complex on the back end too.

(Posible reason why: Shared bank was created with something like 100 potential slots. Initial purchase of bank changes sharded bank pop up from (buy the shared bank (which has slot 0 only which gives you the ad) to something like slots 1-20 are unlocked. Each additional shared bank expansion unlocks more slots by changing the max visible number of slots by 10. From 20 to 30 and now to 40. But if either expansion could be purchased for the first unlock, that means some other code has to be available to check on the second purchase to ensure that the shared bank size has already been increased.

It at least seems to the outside observer, that this flexibility (either expansion can be 20-30 and/or 30-40) only serves to add confusion to the store, as witnessed by the threads this morning and the need to answer what should have been obvious.
