From my experience with a pally fighter/rogue splash build (not a capstone pally) you can have the best of both worlds :
- THF chain for DPS using a falchion (but you'll need to craft a GS Lit II/MinII falchion as there are no holy sword versions of it)
- S&B with bastard sword (benefits for grazing hits from THF chain) will really get most mobs attention
- if you dig into UMD you'll need at least 44 to be able to cast end game scrolls (heal eg)
- Balance determines how fast you get up after a knockdown but the initial knockdown save is STR or DEX based (so with either a high STR/DEx you will spent less time on the floor), but you really want to max this as a melee toon
- Unless you splash to rogue (2 lvls of rogue will grant you evasion + skill cap for UMD/balance) which will benefit the maxing out of umd or balance (but than you'll loose the capstone enh at 20) you'll have a hard time with the available skill points
- I find hate tanking more useful on a pally than spending skill points on it and for max'ing out intimidate you'll have to drop umd or balance with a low start INT
I kind of miss Combat Expertise on the proposed feat lists (which requires base INT 13 however). So I'd personally start with a lower WIS and a higher INT, put 1 lvl up stat point in INT and use a +2 INT tome somwhere on the path to glory. With a starting STR of 16, 4 lvl ups, 2 human STR adds and a +6 item you'll end up with STR 28 (which still can be increased by effects/gear - madstone, rage, exceptional add, ...).
