    I'm signing this.

I know how to do the Reaver puzzle without a solver, I just can't because to me there are only three colors:

    Blue, Red and Yellow

But people tell me there are actually 6.

so, I never lead a Reaver except when guildies are involved and I know someone else can do it.

I see the solution as a UI option named somthing like "Colorbind mode" that can be disabled or enabled (so people not colorblind don't have to see any changes).

The solution can be patterns or just putting some type of text that easily viewable... The reaver puzzle would need to be something that was visually obvious without having to hover your mouse over it.

    and so I gave up.

I ignore color entirely. it plays no role in my life. I don't know what a pastel is, I don't know why one color would be preferred over another, and I really have no idea why some colors "don't go" with other colors. it would be like me trying to explain how to make an omlette to my cat. I'm sure that if I tried hard enough I could teach him the basics, but I just don't think he likes omlettes well enough to care.

so yeah, I'm sure they did explain the colors of the rainbow in grade school. and I'm sure I was staring out the window, thinking about garbage pale kids or otherwise being annoyed about the horrors of the color-seeing club. so you think my clothing choices are sub-optimal today? I have some thoughts about your life choices also, in that case.

so yeah. in some respects its an emotional response. when I see a color puzzle it just makes me angry. and for some reason involves my neighbors.

    good times.
I don't really worry about colors. I stay away from mixing shades of the same color, no blues with blues, not khaki with khaki.

However, being color blind is an excellent conversation starter for the attractive sales lady at the clothes store, perhaps even another customer. Just politely ask them an opinion. You can purposely grab something that will clash, or you can grab something that you think looks okay and ask for help.

I really appreciate all the positive replies y'all

But Im really wary of a 'colorblind mode' that changes the color scheme of the game. I can see color, just not like everyone else. The thought of some greyscaled 'colorblind option' would turn me away from the game

If there are puzzles in game that cant be moused over to read the color name (like some wheels are now) then some kind of symbol/number system would work.

I think all the colours in reavers fate are unfriendly for colour blind folks - except maybe yellow - and as its #6 its the last colour that needs to be considered - well with the way I work that mastermind puzzle

not an ideal solution - but a solution

I understand that the main set of orbs in that Reaver's Fate puzzle is unfriendly to color-blind folks -- I'm currently investigating a fix.

But, can everyone make out the states on the side-orbs, the ones that give you feedback on whether you've correctly matched the colored orbs? Are those just as difficult to distinguish?

black, gray and white? those are plainly visable to me, and I suspect all color blind folk.

Here is a great free tool that lets you simulate how a colour combination will look to a person with the three common types of colour blindness. It isn't perfect, but it will give you a good hint.

    http://gmazzocato.altervista.org/colorwheel/wheel.php

Also in general under normal accessibilty guidelines its good to provide an alternate key, like a hover over that says the colour, or to add a symbol in addition to the colours.

black, white, grey are fine for me

It's shades and steps of colors that cause problems in general.

I don't think I have made it to that particular puzzle, so I can't comment on it.
But its not the only puzzle that is unfriendly to us color deficient people.
All color coded puzzles are an issue

I can honestly say that I never knew that there was any feedback for correct puzzles.

    Also:

People with cataracts that do not yet need surgery experience a decrease in the overall color of their vision.
This results in a greatly reduced ability to discern between various colors.

It may be that other forms of vision problems will also produce similiar situations.

I'm in the same boat as the OP, though not all the time. My problem is that I can't separate a pattern that's done in colors depending on the color. I forget what it's technically called but I tend to get frustrated with visual puzzles.

    Default Finally, Thanks!

    General Quest Changes

Added color blindness support to many of the puzzle wheels in the game, as well as the ancient Doomsday Device in the Stormreaver raid.

I have not been in a quest that has/had color coding since the last couple of updates.
May have to play one to see what the new changes are

    Default reavers fate puzzle

The colours on the reavers puzzle are now more pastel - if you look closely each colour has little pips on them - blue has one green has two etc. The colours are a bit harder to define (for those that are NOT colour blind) especially if there is a firewall near the skulls - but the pips should help those who are colour blind solve this puzzle.

I suspect the developers are going to cop some flack from those that prefer the stronger colour - but personally I think it is a good attempt to help out our colour blind mates.

others may offer the solution to have colour name mouse over - but this puzzle has to be solved FAST and if we had to wait for mouse over it might be to the detriment of the party.

    Thumbs up Thank You !!!!

I want to thank the Devs for coming up with a simple way to distinguish the colored puzzles.

I have yet to run any high level quests since the change, but the few that I did come across were awesome.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can now solo quests w/colored puzzles and not have to bother my wife
