Do you only get the essence once, or per 20 runs. Also, is it bound to character

To be more clear, you'll need to put the uncleansed GS item, the Essence of Cleansing, and a charged High Energy Cell into the Part 5 altar to properly remove the Taint of Shavarath.

You could also use an airship altar, if someone on your server is a high enough renown level to grab one.
