    Default Battlemage/Swordmage Build for Noob

    Does anyone have a build for this they wouldn't mind sharing?

    I've heard people say play a straight fighter like a Barb to start with but I find "vanilla" melee class just too darn boring.

    I'd like a character that used 2 H weapon and augments their attacks with some supplemental magic.

    Any suggestions?

    although this isn't a THF build, its a TWF one. Some tweaking will be necessary (mostly boosting Str and lowering Dex, and changing the feat progression.)

    Either a battle cleric or a melee-focused bard are your best options, IMHO. Did you have a preference between divine & arcane magic?

    Several tried and proven ways for your desired playstyle:
    * Dwarfen 19 Cleric / 1 Fighter
    * Warforged 20 Favored Soul
    * Dwarf/Warforged 20 Bard
    * Human/Drow 15 Bard / 2 Fighter / 3 Rogue
    Erzskalde (Warchanter) / Erzassassin (just passing through - ignore me) / Erzsoldat (waiting for TR-time) / Erzschmied (ranged Artificer)

    Doing almost the same as your last one Human 16 Bard 2 Barbarian 2 Fighter -

    I wanted a battlemage type build so I went for a 32ptr WF Wiz..

    16 Str
    8 Dex
    16 Con
    18 Int
    8 Wis
    6 Cha

    Took masters touch for access to greataxe and maul prof, bulls (str 20) and Blur.

    So far I have solo'd my way upto 6th lvl and solo'd my way through deleras and thrall without any problems whatsoever.

    Obviously not sure how this will translate at higher lvls but at low lvls, am destroying mobs only slightly less well then my fighters or barbs did. Believe this comes from my tactic. Fireball mobs to soften them up, charge in hack them all to death.. okay not much of a tactic, but well it is working well so far.

    7th lvl is when it will get interesting, as you will be able to melee from within your own firewall, and increase your damage by occasional fireballs, acid blasts etc..

    I would encourage anyone to give this melee caster build a go. if you fancy evasion take 2 lvls of rogue or monk at some point, though obviously the stat breakdown would have to change somewhat to accomodate it. I post this here in relation to the OP query and to state that with this build at low lvls you need not multiclass.

    Insightful Reflexes will be much more useful than a redistribution of stats.

    Your stats are fine for a rog splash - just your skill allocation would change.

    Although, if one was to give up the wizard capstone to get evasion and other goodies, they would be remiss to not consider adding a level of barbarian, fighter, or 3rd monk to the mix. 17 is the magic number for wizards!

    The Barbarian movement speed and sprint boost is highly addictive
