I know its generally recommended that we post a build with this, but I'm not looking for an exact build, I can tweak that as I go up, I'm really just interested in the general levels and the benefits of monk vs. ranger.
I'm currently working on a rogue intimitank. It was initially going to be a halfling exploiter build with 18 ranger / 1 monk / 1 rogue, but now I'm beginning to wonder if 12 ranger / 7 monk / 1 rogue might not be more effective. (or 13 / 6 / 1 perhaps). I'm wanting a top AC and good skills, I enjoy being able to do traps. I popped a supreme ability tome at 7.
So what does everyone think? The monk would have quite a few more feats open to it, but misses out on 4th level ranger spells (freedom of movement and meh) and the third tier of tempest (kind of meh anymore). Of course, for monk to be effective I have to be centered, and handwraps won't allow my shield bonus (from tempest) so I'm not sure how good the dps would be (and honestly haven't the foggiest on the math.)
I'd have to lesser reincarnate to get a workable concentration score, but I'm going to have to do that anyways sooner or later, so I'd like to get input first.
If it helps my base is:
Race: Halfling
Str 12
Dex 18
Con 14
Int 12
Wis 14
Chr 8
