Ok, so I went and purchased some 'Strong Soul Gems: Essence of Earth' off the auction house.
My question is, will these work??

This is one of the unfortunate crafting rituals requires an ingredient which you must either

1) Buy from the AH;
2) Create with a caster alt; or
3) Have a friend create with their caster alt.

I truly believe they should change the ingredient for this ritual to another collectable - fairer, imo.

4) Craft a Vacuum GS weapon and deal with the GS ingredient expense and 1-2% proc rate

Strong gems will not work, nor will Weak gems. You need just regular soul gems.
