Default question for a shroud crafting expert

when crafting a mixed focus item does the tier 3 focuses just have to match the tier 1 and 2 focuses or does the tier 3 have to match the lower tiers focus, gem and essence?

this is the item im trying to make, is this possible?

    tier I
    focus: earth
    gem: escalation
    essence: etheral
which gives me: wizardry VI , +1 to wis skills

    tier II
    focus: positive
    gem: opposition
    essence: material
which gives me: improved regeneration (2 hp / 30 sec)
and also gives me: stoneskin 2x/day

    tier III
    focus 1: earth
    gem 1: escalation
    essence 1: material

    focus 2: positive
    gem 2: opposition
    essence 2: material

which gives me: +20 hp, +3 to con skills
and also gives me: heavy fort, protection +5

Nope, they don't have to be the same as lower tiers.

But make sure yours gems for t3 are the same.

(Not that I would recommend the item, it's not very good).

Actually I think that gives you stone ele summons. Stoneskin is on a weapon.

And maybe you can tell us more about your build and what you are looking for because this item does seem to to a little of everything and not a great job at anything.

Ran it thru Zaodan's crafter and it does say stoneskin...doesn't look too bad, but not great either OP....give us your build and what you're trying to do and maybe we can give you some better info

I prefer this crafting planner. It is the one I (and most people I know) use exclusively.

    If I'm not mistaken

    Earth/Earth gives earth ele summons

    Earth/Positive or Positive/Earth gives stoneskin

    See PM for clarification.

haha, no. While a lead designer's job is to balance the game as a whole, each system designer (and each level designer/content guy) is responsible for their own little bit of the game. So as such, I balance spells/enhancements, graal has items and treasure, and Eladrin runs around going "raaar!" a lot. I think he does monsters.

Yes, but you better go for +25 extra HPs than Wizardry VI & regeneration, IMO (Wizardry VI can be obtained easily enough on an item you swap after buffing, while regen doesn't really make a practical difference except for the purpose of stabilizing).
