So i get in a pug von5-6 today (i know thats mistake number 1), but its going okay people are sticking together clearing, traps are being disarmed, no dumb deaths, etc.
Problems begin when we get to the end of Von5 and its clear that this is a first time run for over half the raid, including the raid leader (who isnt on voice chat). I have no problem sitting back and being a team player, will sit on pillars and pull levers, etc. When it is clear that the raid needs direction I pipe in what to do and how to do it. We easily wrap up VON5 and I stop to explain in detail how we are going to handle VON6.
Zone in Von6... enter the fail. We get people to pillars and the Pillar beater on first base is doing insufficient damage to bring down the pillar in a timely fashion. Combined with the pillar smasher on second base who took the pillar down to 0% and reset all the other pillars two times before I rexplained to him "STOP at 10% pillar health" (who was self proclaimed veteran who has run von6 numerous times). Spending too much time on the pillars and people start dying. The third base healer (first time in VON) has the intellegence to see a wipe coming, runs back to home base and hides behind a rock as I make a stone run and get back to home base.
Everyone back to home base, rez'd, and ready to go again. Get people back to pillars and pillar 1 and 2 are having the same problem. I stop everyone, re-explain that the pillars need to go down at the same time, have the pillar people confirm that they understand what to do, then continue. Pillars 2 and 3 get prepped and 1 is at 80 percent. I run to pillar 1 and get it to 3% then run back to pillar 3. Finally all pillars drop at the same time. Hard part done, onto the dragon. I annouce in voice chat and in '/p' Do not go beyond the jumping dwarf in the center ramp... The rogue in the group who has done the quest before and has been helpful the entire time runs past me to the gate, aggros the dragon, dies, and says "afk".
I am normally a relaxed person... but I can honestly say I nerd raged. I sounded like a drunked sailor with tourrettes. To get through all that BS just to have some punk run up aggro the dragon and lock out the rest of us. AHHHHH FUUUUUU
My anger will now only get worse if someone will tell me there is a way to re open the gate before Velah once the pillars have come down and someone has aggro'd her.
I will say though that there were two players a Cleric and his Sorc buddy, who despite both having little von experience were spectacular players and did everything they could to see the raid succeed.
