    Post Skills Ranking

I would assume it would be valuable to obtain feedback from the community about the most useful and the less used skills of DDO. With this purpose we could put in descending order the 20 skills available. The first one gets 20 points, the second one 19 points, etc., and the last one 1 point. I would edit the results periodically. Ty.

    Results:

    Use Magic Device (Cha): 93
    Jump (Str): 77
    Balance (Dex): 76
    Spot (Wis): 76
    Search (Int): 73
    Concentration (Con): 66
    Disable Device (Int): 66
    Intimidate (Cha): 60
    Perform (Cha): 57
    Listen (Wis): 55
    Open Lock (Dex): 55
    Diplomacy (Cha): 53
    Tumble (Dex): 52
    Hide (Dex): 44
    Move Silently (Dex): 41
    Haggle (Cha): 39
    Bluff (Cha): 36
    Swim (Str): 16
    Heal (Wis): 9
    Repair (Int): 6

UMD 1st. The rest can't be bothered to rank.

    AHHHHHHhhhh! Painful burns eyes
    Joke:
A paladin joins a pug run. Once in quest a Halfling summons an Iron defender, starts spewing grease all over the paladin’s feet/Paladin falls.

Paladin says “WHAT THE F***! THAT DOES NOT HELP!!" The Halfling reply’s "Sure it does, gives me a laugh every time.”

    Most useful: UMD
    For casters: Concentration
    For Intimi-tanks: Intimidation
For everyone on the front-lines/healers: Balance
    Situational: Jump, tumble
    Bards: Perform, Haggle (If hagglebot)
Rogue: Disable Device, Open Lock, Search

    Rest are negligible (IMO).

    UMD
    Concentration
    Search
    DD
    OL
    Spot
    Jump(to 6-str mod)
    Intim(for intimitanks)
    Balance

Rest are useless, order can change depending on character.

It's a nice idea OP, but you are going to have to further break it down by class for it to be accurate.

For instance, UMD is a great choice for many builds and to others it will just be a waste, hide, MS, listen, and spot are great skills for a ranger or rogue who want to be very sneaky but for someone like a fighter or paladin they will be useless.

Overall, without getting too technical, UMD is by far and away the most valuable skill in the game...there is absolutely no doubt about this at all.

Concentration I would rank a second most valuable but only to casters and monks.

Balance is very valuable especially if you will not have the slot to wear a balance item.

Spot and/or Listen are very nice skills to see an enemy that is stealthed.

Search and Disable are of course paramount to anyone wanting to trapsmith....open lock is much less valuable.......it's very nice to have but not neccessary.

Jump is nice but good jump boots and a quick swig from a potion will jump you over most mobs if ur in that kind of trouble.

One full rank tumble for any class is nice at character creation.....or later on if u luck out with a +2 INT tome.

And then u are going to start getting into skills that are really going to be based more on build design more than overall importance in general.

Of course Perform will be huge for a Bard, Intimdate will be paramount to an intimi-tank.......diplomacy will be useful to any class that wants to shred aggro....etc, etc for the rest of the skills.

Of course we could filter the order, but it would add much more work to the thread. Only keeping it basic, so we obtain an overall impression. For instance if you don't play never an intimi-tank you assign intimidate at the bottom of the table. Looking for simplicity here. Might be able to draw some conclusions.

    Why is Swim above Haggle?

Only the replies that order the 20 skills are added to the result!!!!!
This is subjective. Until now only one vote posted. I prefer Swim to Haggle.
Put 20 skills in order to add your assessment.

Well....good luck then.......what I think most experienced people are going to think and know is this is way to generalized to be useful...sorry but classes and builds weigh into to this tremendously, if anything at all this post is misleading to people who are new to the game and don't know any better.

The only ranking here that is going to be accurate at all is UMD being number one ranked....that's about it.

it really all comes down to the # of skill points your character gets a level, but here's my basic breakdown for the classes i play.

on my rogue Search, disable device, open lock, spot, UMD, Haggle, move silently, hide in shadows, balance, jump, listen, bluff, tumble, swim, intimidate, diplomacy, heal, repair, perform, concentration

on my caster's concentration, balance, haggle, jump, spot, then search,DD, OL, UMD, MS, HS, tumble, swim, intimidate, bluff, diplomacy, heal, perform, repair, listen are all really tied for the last spot, except on my wizard and bard where UMD would be placed higher, and same with perform on my bard would be placed much higher.

Sure builds and classes matter. But this isn't misleading, for instance when i started i always put skill points in Heal and Swim! And Balance is leading not UMD!
