Slog. Who is it? Own up now.

This is basically a Can I haz ure nayme thread. Apologies.

Someone on ghallanda is called Slog. It might be a lvl 1 28 point bank toon. It might be a lvl 20 completionist. I am hoping the former, or maybe some dude that has made a trial and then gone on to play Lotro etc instead. But if you exist... I am pretty wedded to my identity and have been playing it from back in the day when I was on Gizmo Dikumud - so we're talking 1993 when the internet was based in the university of Minnesota and we all logged on and killed Yetis and Threggi Drones and Massacred the Beastly Fido into Small fragments and it was fun and silly and much much more in depth and grindy than this little fun game we all play now. But with no graphics.

But if someone has the name ... in theory there will be a load of our toons loaded on to this server from Europe in the near future and I can piddly around with the names of the others, unwillingly perhaps, but Slog...? Well, he is Slog. And I would be upset to be upstaged by a bank toon.

If bribery is of interest to you then I am sure I can stretch to something shiny.

Best option is to send an in-game mail to them. If they don't log into the char, it'll come back in a couple weeks. One or two rounds of that and you can pretty much write off ever getting the name.

Maybe go ask really really nicely for Turbine CS to run a name reclaimer on the Ghallanda database.

One where it renames any inactive for a year account's characters and gives them the rename token instead of giving the rename token to all the Euro players that are at least active enough to have hit an "opt-in" button. I'm not advocating removing anyone's character's... just picking which set gets the renamed token in the case of collision.

I like the way you think. Makes a lot more sense - perhaps ... just perhaps ... they'll have thought of that already... But also it might be better to ask ahead as it makes perfect sense.

I am in your position as well Slog....Elkara, the name I have been using for 3.5 y, is taken by an archived toon :P

I hate to say it but I think the easiest way will be to find a variation of the name....I'd love to have my name bk but I know I haven't got the patience required to "hunt down" the person who has the same name! (I remeber the pain that Emil went thru on Devourer!).

you should be able to name change and they should get the Ghallanda tag and you should have what ever server you came from you get /namechange free I think I know I did from Lhazzar if you do it first you could get the un- name . try it and find out.

I'm just curious as to how many of the EU transfers are against or don't like the idea of changing your name to (in this case) SlogEU? It kind of keeps your name and also represents your EU heritage...

Of course, now that I look at it and realize that you won't have caps so it would be "Slogeu" it wouldn't really work out... Looks silly. ^_^ Oh well, was worth a thought. lol

Yeah people speak your name and I don't wanna be called Slogeyew or Sloguck. I'll find a way. Also appending my heritage adds to the feeling of alienation which I am sometimes getting in advance on these forums, before my toon has even been transferred.

with sever merges in the past the name has been separated from the server name. so it could become Slog-EU or whatever the names of the servers where. i think one is keeper? that would become Slog-Keeper.
