    Default Vs Oozes

Oozes are starting to annoy me.. so wanted some advise on the best solution to kill them

** Money is no massive object, anything upto 100k in the AH I would buy although a cheaper option would surfice
    **

I of course currently have Muckbane but as a 10th lvl 2HF Barbarian I really don't want to be switching to a 1H weapon as it isn't my style and just doesn't seem to do the damage. Add to that its only lesser bane it doesn't really warrant use at this point.

I have considered Mucksdoom but it is only a slightly upgraded versions of the Muckbane and still runs into the same 1H problem.

I also have an everbright great axe... this is what I am currently using but find that it is poor since it splits the oozes being a slashing weapon.

I am PRETTY sure that my best options (although I will have to do some serious waiting until they drop or show up in the AH) are:

    In Order of Importance

1 : Everbright GreatClub / Maul of Greater Ooze Bane
2 : GreatClub / Maul of Greater Ooze Bane (no Everbright so id have to bind it)
3 : Everbright GreatClub / Maul of Ooze Bane
4 : GreatClub / Maul of Ooze Bane (no Everbright so id have to bind it)
5 : Everbright Falcion / GreatAxe / GreatSword of Greater Ooze Bane
6 : Falcion / GreatAxe / GreatSword of Greater Ooze Bane (no Everbright so id have to bind it)
7 : Everbright Falcion / GreatAxe / GreatSword of Ooze Bane
8 : Falcion / GreatAxe / GreatSword of Ooze Bane (no Everbright so id have to bind it)

I of course have put Clubs ahead of Swords because of the ooze splitting drama but if one comes up I am gonna buy it!

Everbright would be useful but doubtful id get both everbright and ooze on the same weapon and if i did the AH seller would no doubt get crazy thoughts about its worth being in the millions! - So more than likely my plan is :

1 : GreatClub / Maul of Greater Ooze Bane
2 : GreatClub / Maul of Ooze Bane
3 : Everbright Falcion / GreatAxe / GreatSword of Greater Ooze Bane
4 : Everbright Falcion / GreatAxe / GreatSword of Ooze Bane

If anyone can suggest an alternative for me that would help me kick their butts! Much appreciated!

For named items, take a look at Shining Devastation, its a +5 adamantine everbright greatclub with force damage.

another good bet is a true law/chaos everbright maul (ideally) or quarterstaff - oozes (and rust monsters) are all neutral so will also take extra damage, and if you have the chaos one you can even use it as a handy marut beater too

you wont be able to find a combination of everbright & ooze bane since they're both effect suffixes.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

You pretty much answered your question already. You listed the best melee weapons against oozes.

Oozes in general are weak...if you have problems with them while you are using an everybringht/Muckbane its difinatly not the weapons that cause the problem

If i dont have to fight them i normally just ignore oozes and go on.

New content has a rednamed ooze. Anything that isn't glass or everbright is going to break pretty fast, even if it is bound to you.

The mace named Phosphor is another great weapon, it has Everbright and will do 12d6 against oozes and undeads on a critical hit.

    Default I could be wrong...

..but i don't think oozes do much damage to wood items. Maybe a wood greatclub or quarterstaff. I don't think everbright is required then. Bad thing is the crit on 20 only BS.

oozes will dissolve anything that isnt glass or everbright (pick up a plain quaterstaff and run durks, it wont survive the quest), its rust monsters that only damage metal

Another option might be everbright with acid. I've noticed some oozes seem to be resistant to other elemental damage, but they oddly all seem vulnerable to acid. Another reason to go with everbright over ooze bane is for the rust monsters.

Oozes are not generally dangerous enough to bother with getting a powerful weapon for them; just use whatever's conventient to carry that won't break.

One that's fun is Terror, which has a pretty good damage bonus on low-Will enemies (even though logically oozes should be immune to a "mind blast"). But it's slashing so some oozes would split.

    Since noone mentioned these:

Thrown weapons (dart, hammer, shuriken, dagger, throwing axe) don't (or at least didn't) take damage from oozes. Throwing hammer is the best, bludgeoning.

Your bare fists don't take damage.

After testing I found that handwraps do not take damage from oozes - don't need everbright on them. Shocking burst or force-burst are the best. Some oozes ignore fire, other cold.

Shrieking Star (from Restless isles) is glass (but only 1-handed.)

None of these are two-handed though.

It isnt like I am worried about them it is more that I want to swap an Ooze weapon out for main one (so it doesnt get damaged) and by the same token want to get rid of that ooze as quickly as possible.

To say "don't bother getting a powerful weapon for them" is a little short sighted... yes they arent a dangerous foe but they ARE annoying and when you have to swap out your weapon so it doesnt get rusted what do you do?

A : Swap out for "whatever's conventient to carry that won't break" - by the sound of it that wont be powerful and will take longer to get rid of the oozes, in turn being longer before you can switch back to the weapon you need and despatch the many other foes that have started to queue up waiting to hit you
B : Swap out for a good Ooze-Beater, a few whacks later and the ooze is gone and the other foes surrounding you havent even caught their breath
