Default Stealthy Repossession: Hats for Prophets

A tiny change to make Stealthy Repossession more understandable for new players:
Put special hats on the Kobold Prophets.

Allowing them to be visually distinguishable from other kobolds will make it easier for new players to understand the fairly-implausible rules of this dungeon.

How about tattered cloth as cloaks, signifying reverence?

FYI, the topic header made me imagine them in purple top hats. I know where the top hat part came from, just not sure about the purple yet. Not even sure if I'd want to.

Nothing implausible in having non-combat objectives, there's nastier things to worry about like dungeon alert and hold person.
All of the three problems are avoidable by ignoring the optional, thus not stopping to kill any kobolds.
If you really want to kill the kobolds you better be prepared, but that's xp you can get elsewhere.
Having a habit of getting the most xp of a quest is fine but then you gotta note the difficulty varies from quest to quest.
There's always some nasty quests at each level.

What is btw the best way for a rouge and a wizard duo to complete the quest?
We're at level 7 and have yet to complete it at hard and elite due to how annoying it was first time around as mere level 4s.

    Spam crowd control?

Spam protection buffs and haste and just zerg through. It takes like 3 minutes.

You're way overlevel for the quest now, though. I don't see the point of doing it anymore except for favor.

7th Wizard should be able to do it in a a minute, rouge can hide at start and collect xp. All you need is too keep casting invisibility and some form of run faster like haste or exp retreate. If you are worried about caster damage electric resist should help but really just run along flip the switches required then run along again soon you will be at the objective.

Having them more visually identifyable is a good idea.

A DM voice that tells you not to kill them would be nice too.

To answer another question, some people actually sneak through it.

(there should be more "training" info given for stealth in this game to new guys btw.)

    Default charm person

Just looking at the thread title, I assumed you were talking about the pink triangle "hats" on charmed prophets. That's how I got through that quest the first time on my wizard without killing them or eliciting too much dungeon alert. This lets fighters swing away against the other kobolds without fear of accidentally killing prophets and they can be healed as long as they're charmed.

This is the quest that taught me how useful disabling "auto-target" and using the Tab key to select and "lock" onto enemies is.
    "What? Where?" *clunk, thud* :-)

A plausible non-combat objective would be for you to sneak in and steal the item without being detected.

What's implausible is for you to jump around throwing flashy spells on everything and killing 30 kobolds except 8 special ones, picking up a piece of glass, and then going back to kill the same guys you carefully spared 30 seconds ago.

Well, player posting made devs alter coalescence chamber, tear of drakkan, etc. may be people can get the hats added on this one.

That's a great idea! Or dye their heads purple or something. Tattoos? ANYthing to make them stand out from the rest of the rabble.

And you can sneak through, but it's really hard when you break sneaking by flipping the switch, and those darned prophets can hear you from a mile off.

My hubby and I duo'd it with a cleric (me) and a rogue (him) by me just making noise and attracting attention, then sheild-blocking and healing myself while he flipped the levers in various places.

Then we ran as fast as we could to grab the jewel... then killed EVERYTHING. I love killing them all once the quest's complete. I really hate those jumpy little prophets.

But I'm ALL for making the prophets distinguishable from the other kobolds.

Because the floating text over their heads isn't obvious enough?
