dual deception weapons

I was considering dual khopeshes with deception for my rogue, one with holy burst but I was told deception is ****? Any advice?

Deception is not the only way to sneak-attack something. Stun it, blind it (with holy aura), stat-drain it, or use unbalancing strike on it. Any of those will allow you to perform sneak attacks when you have aggro. For lower levels, it is best to just group with friends and let them take initial aggro.

Deception has low value, but a high-level Rogue should carry a Deception weapon for the rare times it'll be useful.

Hitting with Deception has around a 5% chance of debuffing the monster to be Sneak Attacked for a few seconds, which can be a decent DPS increase if your Sneak Attack damage is very high, and you weren't getting Sneak Attacks anyhow. Obviously in a regular group you won't need Deception, because someone else will be doing damage too and letting you Sneak Attack that way. But if you're alone it might be helpful (although for non-bosses, Radiance II is far better of course).

Deception can be particularly important if the Rogue is trying to solo a self-healing boss; even if it's not much of an overall DPS upgrade, it provides bursty DPS that might help overwhelm the enemy's regen.

So Im assuming, maybe wrongly, from what I read its not much whack for trash mobs and slight whack for bosses.

I've got a pair of +2/3 holyburst/icyburst rapiers of deception. They work great when I'm soloing rednames (especially the kobold in enter the kobold), but I would rather use my rad2s on blindables. On anything but a high level rogue though, deception is pretty garbage.

I dont have rad 2s or any GS or ingredients for them so I am going to be second best with gear for a long time. Also my rogue is 16 and soon will have vorpal so if its a trash mob anyway apart from those in epic that have heavy fort i will be able to lop there heads off (presuming they have them) anyway.

one of my favorite weapon comboes for soloing with my ranger rogue adventurer build was a curse spewing short sword of puncturing, and a paralyzing dagger of deception. It was just a very effective combo for keeping mobs debuffed controlled, and dead.
