    Default Rolling /d100 for Items

I recently had someone tell me about a supposed macro program out there that let's people get high rolls all the time. I do not want this or want to know where it is found I just want to hear from others if this is something credible or an urban legend.

If it IS credible then I'll have to start having peeps go for low roll on items or something crazy like the closest to 50 on a d100.

    Any confirms/denies?

I'm rather sure that even if such a program would/could work, you'd be exploiting.

I'm even more sure that the person that directed you to whatever website/download they did was trying to trick you into downloading/installing malware.

    Avoid like mummy rot.

Aye, I know it is an exploit if true. I DO NOT want to even think of trying this. Believe me or not.

And nobody directed me to a site. We were rolling for tokens in Invaders and he said low roll won because he had heard about this happening.

I am only trying to confirm/deny the existence of such a thing so when people roll on MY items I put up I can adjust what the winning roll will be accordingly. IE: closet to 50, low roll, etc...

Surely if such a program exists it can be modified?

I dunno. Thinking about it makes me somewhat paranoid. If I saw enough suspicious rolls I would probably use a riddle instead of dice.

Or perhaps by using different die parameters every time, eg. /roll d137, highest prime number wins or something.

Or you could have competing rolls go first, then you roll, and whoever has the closest number to yours wins.

In the sense that anything is doable by someone who knows enough about the end result they want and the system they're trying to apply it to, this kind of thing is of course always possible.

Even if it's only being worked on the idea of using low or closest to X# would make it pointless.

Well one thing I try to do on all my toons is go to the party chat input and make sure that the dice are coming up there, so that when someone rolls I get the confirmation that they did in fact roll that die, and did not just use clever spacing tricks.

    thats pretty old school though.

Again, this is all unconfirmed. It might just be a urban legend started because someone got lucky on a couple of rolls. I'm not trying to be the paranoid type but proper knowledge and planning is over half the battle.

I guess I'll just chalk this up to rumors until I start seeing something suspicious myself.

In the long long ago when people were allowed to pass color and formatting tags to the chat window you could make it appear that you had rolled or that anyone had rolled for that matter.

It had the limitations that if someone had their chat windows output differently or had different colors that it was easy to spot the cheat.

I do not believe that there is any way to do this with the current build of the game. However if you are still worried, change the color of your chat text for rolling or split the party and global rolls into different chat windows.

Always heard with interest about Characters roll a dice to decide loot. By the way, how do you roll a d100 in the game, for instance? Ty.

One way to avoid this issue would be to assign a number to each person wanting the loot and the person with the loot rolls the /d3 or whatever for who gets it.

Yeah it was implemented in Update [nerf/Bug] 5 release.

You just need to type the new dice roll notation:
    /roll d1 to 100

You'll be guaranteed 99 or 100 each time, it was implemented for new players as the old /roll d100 was too complicated for them to understand. Also the random nature made them complain about the game so they weighted the dice to always roll highs now.

    Shhhhh don't tell anyone

You are part right but over complicating things. Its just a 2 line chat message where the 2nd looks just like a roll. The solution is to never accept any rolls where the line immediately above in chat is from the same person that rolled.

Rolling is server side, there's no "macro program" that would adjust it. If someone could hack die rolls, they'd just hack their personal loot table instead and never need to roll.
