turbine's,through the cube, missed the mark here. they've banned a perfectly harmless phrase..... and had no reason to do so. they can say it was offensive all they want but lets face it... it wasn't really
Dunno, some years ago words like 'cool' just made our parents rise the eyebrow. A single word, which otherwise would have been totally meaningless in certain moment suddenly got an additional meaning. I guess the same goes for 'Hi Welcome' a simple Phrase, and recently even detailed explained after some people asked what is behind the meaning. Now it is forbidden to use? Not that I think I have the right feeling for it to use it in the appropriate situations anyway, but just wow. my condolence.
Many points
- Isn't newb vs.noob not antagonistic?
- Really - people complained about being Hi Welcomed - it's like an adult complaining about getting the middle finger from an 8 year old - you need to rise above that and ignore it.
- HW was a kinder, gentler way of saying RTFM or more correctly read the darn forum history before you post. Try searching on Mounts and see what you get - a pretty big mishmash but it covers the territory well in the first 10 or so links offered. So if someone wants to suggest mounts one more time I'll scream. Forum etiquette has always in my mind been search first ask/suggest later. If someone is sooooo lazy that they can't do that then they should be able to handle a simple HW.

Hi Welcome
What are you talking about? The person you quoted were being civil, they just didn't agree with you. Is not agreeing with you automatically uncivil now?
And on the issue of complaints... I started using the stupid phrase because I noticed a pattern of newer posters who were extremely agressive and offensive and reporting them didn't seem to have any impact. You also seem to have given up on the auto moderation because people with HUGE red bars still post offensive stuff. So Hi Welcome became the new way to deal with things.
