Default DMs... Whats the best thing you have killed a character(s) with?

I had a Giant Paragon Dire Bear eat a entire party of low level half-lings.

(I usually don't go so heavy, but when the druid on the path says "Do not enter the forest, It is sacred to the great bear spirit" Does not mean "go in look for things to kill, then start a camp fire because its lunch time")

After a near-wipe, only the party's barbarian stood alive - the rest of the party had stabilized but the 6th level barbarian had managed to win the day with a single hit point left. Unfortunately for him, his rage wore off before anyone could heal him at all...

    Giant Ants.

The original encounter was with a couple workers and a warrior. A good tough encounter for 1st/2nd level characters. (They have good AC, and bite HARD!)

The ranger agrees to the less-than-wise suggestion to track the ants back to their lair because they'll have good treasure, like gems & stuff.

They found it easily enough. *evil grin*

The last couple hors d'oeuvres found that Giant Ants also have an awesome movement rate....

I was in a session of a 1st Edition campaign once. I wasn't DMing, but after this session, I was convinced our DM was evil. All I have are four little words:

    "Rocks fall. You die."

Esson the Sacred Heart - Physician, Healer - Sarlona

    An entire mountian.

Was something like... you see a giant pillar extending into the gloom above you. Inset into the pillar is a gem you feel has great magical properties of an unknown nature...

Of course the rogue in the part wants to pry it out....

Higher level party, fighting a lich... (2.5ed with lots of house rules)

Fighting's pretty crazy and the lich is kinda running out of spells... so the lich nukes the party and flys to his fall back position, luckily this drops the disgustingly high strength fighter that was giving me some problems dropped him to like -48 or something but he was (house rule) wearing a ring of regeneration so it would just be some time before he got back up...

and the party thought that they could just finish him off...

checking the spell list i see "Animate Dead" ....

A quick check in the necromancers blue book...

hmmm on one target it brings it back as a cool undead at half original HD (if not higher than casters level)

    Liches Initiative!

RISE MY PET AND KILL THEM ALL!!! *movement phase fly away*

    Party What???

(slipped note to fighter you are at half hitpoints but will loose one per turn from the ring, kill the party)

Fighter drops the rest of the party except for the cleric that heals him to death??? Life???

Didnt matter as the party was trying to figure it out the lich came back with reinforcements.

The PCs bust into the sanctuary of the mage at last, only to find that he has, in an apparent act of cowardice, fled the scene.

In the room, there is a selection of jewellery - a ring, a diamond, and an oddly glowing ruby.

Four rounds later, that ruby is revealed to be a delayed blast fireball.

    Three things stand out:
    1) Ghost Faced Killer, he was great fun and had the party jumping at shadows and then they proceeded to roll horribly for the Death Touch attack he's got.

2)Rodney the Evil Warlock; the party actually took this guy with them for half the story line as a hireling after he convinced them he was a lowly captured guard in their first encounter with him. Only in the final epic battle against his second in command did he reveal himself.

    3) Tomb of Wights; murdered half the party. It was the half who decided ripping enchanted chains off a half buried door is a good thing, the other half legge it as soon as the first scream wrang out

    Talking

    Poison Gas Cloud

Just because the Dwarf fighter can eat the poisoned burrito in the first place does not mean that they rest of the party will pass the Fort DC check later that night ... especially if the DM increases the DC due to the assumed additive effect of Dwarven gastronomy.

Illusionary pit trap. Party is hunting a known illusionist. Square that has the illusionary pit trap is ordinary floor. The next 2 squares after it that apear to be ordinary floor are the actual pit trap. Barbarian jumps right over the ordinary floor and into the trap. This, after being shot by archers down the hall which he was trying to jump the trap to get to.

I had a higher level wizard and several apprentices spread out. I hit the party sorcerer with the Glass Strike spell turning him to glass then had his apprentices cast Shatter on him.

Kind of funny to have a lvl 18 character die spectacularily from a 2nd level spell.

    Hah, this brings back memories.

A Purple Worm who ate the barb (which was me; we were short on players, so I played as a sort of NPC), but he escaped 3 times by breaking out of it with his super-human(or half-orc) strength, only to be eaten a few turns later by a 2nd Worm. This led to the utter downfall of the squishy Wizard and Monk, Leaving only the Cleric/Paladin of St. Cuthbert, who obviously stood no chance at all.

Then, there's the King of Horror, who was cross-bred from a fire giant and a frost giant (how is that possible? idk), who had dual Vorpal Fire/Ice swords, and armies of giants.

Oh, and whenever i get PO'ed by the players, theres always the Tarrasque for a little fun.

Vorpal butter knife: Mid lvl 3.5 the cleric and the rouge in the party loved RP'ing the hate that they really had for each other in real live, so in adventure they both found some camping gear of unusual quality. True to form over during a rest period they get into a mock fight with the knives in the gear, Cleric rolled a 20, roll to confirm *surprise* rouges head rolls over against a tree and body falls limp.

I wasn't DM but I was a (house rules) Half drow/moon elf (evil campigan) V3.5.

My party and I had found a mansion that looked pretty during the day but at night turned into a house full of Vamps. So as we each slowly but surely got seperated from each other my toon was the only one left that was not currently trapped in some fashion so it's all riding on my deathknight. I am having no trouble going through the place till the DM says with a grin roll a spot check......apperantly I didn't see that I had stumpled upon a summoning circle and was quickly delivered to the lower hells yeah didn't last long there
