    Default Beholder Question.

Do Beholders shoot the anti-magic ray from their main stalk when not in combat? Say, if you're stealthed right in front of them and not noticed, would the ray hit you?

I do not think so since you can sneak past them without losing buffs. However I find no mention of it in Mrcow's Beholder Physiology 102.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but if DDO is following pnp close enough, it's the large central eye that has an antimagic cone effect. Anyone in front of the beholder when it opens this large eye is effected. If you can stealth by, this likely means that the game is simulating the habit of beholders to not always have this eye open as it can see just fine with it's stalks.

Central eye is the anti-magic eye...stalks hold things such as Finger of Death, Disentigrate, etc.

DDO is not following PnP rules about anti-magic, so you can't trust your knowledge of these.

The only way is to check it by yourself.
