    Angry VoN Fail

    VoN 5:

I see a post up for VoN 5 Norm / 6 Elite with a level 15 Wizard in it.

I'm feeling lazy and don't have the certainty of a guild-scheduled Von 6 Epic anytime soon, so I join on my monk.

He says hi, then goes in to Valak's Mausoleum and whips out a hireling. No biggie, save I can't enter the raid and start clearing, but I mean, there's 2 of us, so it's not like we wouldn't be playing the waiting game soon enough anyway.

By the time he's done, we've got 2 more members, another monk and a paladin.

We're all standing out the front of VoN and the pally, I and the other monk zone in. About 3 seconds later the wizard drops party.

Assumedly he wasn't flagged, or something, so I repost the LFM, saying in progress.

The only difficulty being we can't clear now as our only door opener is gone. The paladin is a champion and goes on his wiz / rogue splash to smash the doors and traps.

We fill to 6 people reasonably quickly.

About 5 minutes later it dawns on me that we weren't a raid group and can't convert now because we're in a dungeon.

So we all recall out, convert to raid and zone back in. No biggie.

We get VoN 5 done; although a lot of us were familiar with it, none of us till party member 11 realized you had to walk up to the barriers around the puzzle wheels with the ring to drop them. Seems very noob now.

Eventually we finish without any real problems, but I suspect we spent an hour in there.

    VoN 6:
I begin posting groups, but on voice chat am told it's just Elite and not to worry about it - just have people solo bases.

That's fine, and I post a revision with just people soloing, but the mixed messages totally understandably mess with the group, so we have:
    home: 5 players
base 1: a blob of about 6 players (including, for some reason, a Hezrou and charmed fire elemental for added pillar challenge)
    base 2: 1 soloer
    base 3: no one.

I realise the issue when I type "how's 3rd?" and look at the dotless minimap.

No problem again, and entirely my bad as leader for not being clearer / getting a freaking mic, so I run over to 3rd.

As 3rd's pillar hits 10% I type the fateful phrase:

    "Kill plz".

The not-new level 19 person who immediately charged from home to the dragon:
    "You sayed kill".
    "ops"
    "Sorry guys i understands kill"
    "I die then to open"
Your party member, noob, has died.

And this is why you shouldn't lead anything remotely complex without a microphone.

You probably should've said base 3 prepped. Kill pillars pls.
In case you didn't already notice, my posts that end with must NEVER EVER, under any circumstances, be taken seriously.

So you found out how much fun it is to run a Von raid At least you didn't have to put up with all the ways people find to screw each other out of loot at the end. I've seen everything from outright bribes to stacking raid w/ guildies to make rolls and trade internally among themselves. But every Pug is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna get It's the few times players demostrate a sense of teamwork and fairplay that make it worthwhile tbh. Those groups are the ones I prefer to remember and add to friends

The more reason to just join someone else's raid, lol!
I rarely have the patience to babysit anyone,
besides I don't like it when their palms get all sweaty when I have
to hold it the entire quest -_-

I'm sorry you had to deal with incompetence, it happens though.
    So buck up!

The 2nd to last VoN I was in, someone decided to take the Ddoor off of their base, and run to the dragon.

meanwhile we were just refreshing our songs (we'd lost one or two minutes, wasn't really necessary. I wasn't the leader so you know, you do what they ask of you )

Failed runs can be fun, but bag pugs are quite often not.

I generally take bad pugs and turn them into good ones, by joking around and having fun.

Sometimes you can't do much, and sometimes you can.

hope your experiences get better and better bud!

so how the hell did you get robbed of the loot that dropped for you?

ah, it didn't drop for you!?

but you have a nagging feeling that it does belong to you, and only you?

    does your head hurt lots?

to me that sounds like you need to pay a visit to your favourite doktor asap...

Nope, just needs lots of aluminum foil for a bigger hat...

OP, one thing I noticed, and maybe I am missing something here, but you did VoN 5 which is the pre-raid and then posted a seperate group for VoN 6? Unless I am mistaken (which is possible) unless YOU stay in the VoN 5 instance, you would have to re-run VoN5 again to be able to get to VoN 6.

I think the part in red is what threw me; I though he was referring to posting on LFM, not posting the groups for bases...
