    Default rogue / fighter

as it is im fairly new to the game so, with that said bare with me.

what im currently leveling is a rogue (lvl 3) but as it is im struggling abit with the hit, i was thinking about using two rapiers or two heavier weapons atleast due to the short swords lacking abit dmg.
but would it be worth going 18R/2F?

as i said, im fairly new at this so any input and builds are more than welcome.
i am only lvl 3 and it doesent take too far to regain that lvl so, i will reconsider any suggestions you guys have to offer.

what im looking for in a rogue is being a trap / lock monkey aswell as having fairly high dmg output.

i have the 32p build aswell as ive got a 2+ all stats tome.

The damage difference between a rapier offhand and a short sword offhand isn't going to be enough to notice by the time you get OTWF feat. Strength and sneak attack are the primary damage sources for rogues, not specific weapon types. However, if you want a weapon with higher damage potential, khopeshes are popular for their crit range and x3 crit damage.

I think we need a bit more info from you. What are your stats (not including items) and feats to this point?

    thanks for the reply.
is 2x khopeshes recommended or is that more like an offhand?

Just a few things to help your to-hit:

You might already know this, but rapiers do not count as a light off-hand weapon, so you will lose some points dual wielding rapiers. You can wield a rapier in your main hand and a short sword in your off until you get higher level. Or two short swords if that is your best weapon set for the situation.

Also, try to find the highest bonus to hit weapon you can find. Even if that means using plain +5s over something with a damage effect. You won't be getting any damage if you miss. You can keep a holy burst of whatever weapon set around for DPS, but when you notice yourself missing, swap to the +5s.

There are a set of goggles on Korthos that give you +1 Insight to hit. This stacks with everything else. I wore those goggles until level 13. Just swap them out when you are trapping and put them back on when you are fighting. I just looked it up, they are the Goggles of Insight that drop as a end reward for Necromancer's Doom. Remember, your to hit is also probably better if you are flanking.

Depends what you want to build...remember the new Rogue capstone gives 4d6 SA damage + +2 INT, both of which are very nice for the Assassin.

2 Fighter gives 2 feats, +1 STR, 10 hp via Fighter Toughness I, and a few more hp via Fighter2.

If you are worried about MISS, then remember, TWF has more miss than THF at your level. That's why a lot of TWF builds still THF at the lowest levels. Suggestions, TWF feat, WF feat, OTWF feat, Insight Goggles, Korthos +2 hit set (Anger's set or Pathfinders), +DEX item, sneak attack (SA), Heroism potions,...you won't miss so much then.

At level 3 you would want a rapier main hand and something light off hand (like short sword). That gives you the max to-hit.

And if you are missing a lot still don't be afraid to just go 1h. You still take a penalty to hit with dual wielding. So your highest +hit weapon wielding 1handed is your maximum hit chance.

You will get drow enhancements to rapiers so that is a good way to go for main hand. Don't weild two unless you are not missing.

You can put some fighter if you want. I did that for the feat (because of poor feat selection due to rogue being my first char rolled). That was before lockania. There are advantages to being pure rogue, though.

Here is a guide for rogue19/fighter1 if you still want to consider that -- it addresses some of the weapon options, too:
