Guild recrutment FLMs

I am tired of seeing Recruitment FLMs it's not that people shouldn't be allowed to post them (Ideally yes it would be not allowed but the world isn't perfect), it's that when I go look at the LFM list there are like 15 LFMs up and 13 of them are for guild recruitment. It's inundating us, it really should be considered spamming but I digress.

My suggestion to remedy this is that they should add a "Guild recruitment" check box to the LFM menu so that when people make an LFM specifically to recruit they just check it. Then at the top of the LFM list add a third check box that says "Don't show guild recruitment".

I know there are people who will say, 'but Perspicacity, no one will uses it.' Not quite, some may not use it but some will and even if only one in five people uses it that's one in five less Guild recruitment LFMs we'd have to look at.

You could always do what I have done; I have seen them twice since it has been said that they were not allowed. Both times I sent a tell to the person that had the LFM up that they could be reported/banned. The first time I did it, I had a good conversation with the person; they asked why, I told them what was going on, and they took down the LFM. No harm no foul as far as I am concerned. The second time, the person never bothered to respond, left the LFM up, so I reported it. If this gets done enough, people will be educated.

It is spam and can be reported. I generally send them a tell giving them a heads up it is a no no. if they are a smartass or ignore the tell I will report them.

I agree something needs doing but not sure this is the solution. Half the people who put up a LFM can't even be bothered selecting the quest from a list.

I would rather see a 5th (4th?) tab added for Guild's LFM comletely seperate from the Party LFM.

And if guilds are not supposed to post that they are recruiting here where are the supposed to post it? I just looked at the community guidelines, it doesn't say that guilds can't post recruiting here. If there is a thread by DDO saying otherwise please link it as well. And I just reread this it it sounds like I'm coming through a bit harsh, I'm not I'm genuinely concerned about whether or not I am allowed to post my guild recruitment here in this forums.

We are talking about the in game social panel (Press O to bring it up), not the forums. Recruiting here is fine and is what these forums are intended for.

Yeah I know what you mean then, yes that is annoying when you see a group posted and they are just recruiting. Though it would be nice if they added a guild recruitment channel like WoW had though few rarely used it, people would just spam trade chat with guild recruitment.

I agree it's not a perfect solution and your idea isn't bad either. I just want them to do something, don't care what. Perhaps the solution is to make the punishment more harsh. I think first infraction gets a warning, second infraction toon gets band and a message is sent to guild leader warning him to do something to stop his guild mates from recruiting, third infraction from the same guild toon in violation gets band and the guild gets disbanded. It will solve 2 problems, No more Guild LFMs and fewer guilds on the server.

I really don't understand what the big problem is with recruiting under an lfm. It's simple, if your not looking to join a guild then scroll right past it. It's really no different then being aggravated that you want to find a group running the WW and all you see is groups running delaras. If you dont want to join any group your not required...just look past it to the next lfm. I find nothing worse than people who are so bored they look for things to nit pick like this and go running to report it. What are we all three year olds?

I totally agree that there should be a tab added for guild recruiting. The LFM is always full of guilds on my server and its a real eyesore.

I agree with this guy. Subtract the harshness though. It reminds me of this place I used to blog and people who didn't agree with me would complain about me posting stuff they didn't agree with. I asked them why they read it. Doesn't make any sense to me.

People recruit on general chat because they are looking for noobs. Noobs don't know to look on the forums and may not know how to navigate them. That's why they call them noobs. Cause they are new and don't know a lot about the game. Same reason people advertise on the LFM section. They are counting on someone who doesn't know a lot about the game to stumble onto their advertisement. I don't understand how people could not like this practice other then being upset that they can't find a pug.

I would really love to see Turbine implement a Guild Social Recruitment panel, similar to the regular Social panel. It would not only keep the party panel clear, but would help prospective players & recruiting guilds hook up a bit better in game (besides the forums and hoping you find a decent one through puggers).

EQ2 has that feature, and it was always immensely helpful for me. Would love DDO & Lotro to have a similar setup.
