    Unhappy Really weird graphics issue

    Before I continue here are my most current computer specs:

    Windows XP x64 Professional
    ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA 775 pin motherboard
    Intel dual core CPU 2.00 Ghz
    Asus Nvidia 8800 GT (512mb) video card
    Audigy 2 ZS sound card
    1.5 Tb hard drive space
    2 Gig of Ram

    Anyways I have been playing DDO since May 2010 with no problems whatsoever. Very fun game, even thinking of becoming VIP status. But within the last week, every time i start the game everything is fine for about a minute then the graphics just freezes, I can still hear all the sounds but it freezes for about 2 mins then some big blotches of weird stuff appears, its as if it magnified somebody x100. I can minimize it and go to desktop then go back and everything is okay, then it does the same thing again 1 min in playing. One time the whole system crashed and the error msg said something about nv4_disp error or some sort. I have figured out it maybe something to do with my graphics card, I installed the most up do date drivers...even formatted my 80 gig hard drive to install 64 bit version of xp but still nothing.

    Somebody please help!

    I get the same problem, updated the drivers... still occurs. I have the same graphics card, chances are it's the game is not friendly to that GPU; yet again a change which causes a bug. The GPU even though it is older is still supported by new games and one of the most widely used.

    Also happens when zoning, the loading screen reaches 100% and then doesn't update, everything seems fine (moving, sound etc.) just no visual except for that loading screen. Oh and also get total screen freeze, rarely but it happens.

    GPU temperature is fine too.

    Well if it is the card then many people would have the same problem, 8800 is a popular chipset to use (even now, surprisingly). It seems when the client was updated they didn't take into consideration testing ALL popular gfx cards. Hopefully they will tinker with it soon.

    I just noticed however, the game mainly becomes unstable when I alt-tab to windows. So yup, client is wonky. I remember this problem way back when Devs were still dreaming up Drow (don't quote me on the timing though, just seems that long ago).

    this is exactly what im experiencing. it seems like it magnifies just as you say. then i noticed in the task manager that the dndclient is eating up memory. i run a 9800gt and i know they are basicly the same chipset as the 8800 with a better cooling setup. still the card never runs over 53 degrees while gaming. been hoping for a fix or a solution as well.

    This is what Tubrine Support sent me via e-mail. It goes with the specs of my computer but you can try also, and who knows. However it did not really work for my computer so i said F*CK it i'm gonna get a new card. haha so i'm going for a 9500 GT 1gb now.

    Thank you for contacting Turbine Technical Support. Please open the folder "My Documents" or “Documents” > “Dungeons and Dragons Online” and in there open the “Userpreferences.ini” file and make the following changes in the [Display] section:

    * Change "AllowFakeFullScreen=True" to False
    * Change "SyncToRefresh=False" to True
    * Verify that the number following "Resolution=" matches your current Windows desktop resolution.
    * Change "Antialiasing=" to Disabled if set to 2x/4x etc. (eg. Antialiasing=Disabled )

    Exit the file and choose yes when prompted to save prior to launching the game to test these settings.

    Some additional settings changes can be made from the in-game Options menu:

    * Under "ADV Graphics" disable the "Player Mesh Combining" setting
    * Lower the "Player Crowd Quality Control" slider to 0
    * Under Audio if currently using a "Hardware" mode, change this to one of the "Software" settings and ensure that "Use EAX" is disabled
    * Under the Troubleshoot section lower the Engine Speed to Medium initially
    * Set the Maximum Frames Per Second slider to 57.

    I crashed out a few times after the last update, so I checked my drivers and NVIDIA had released a new driver in mid July. I updated and haven't crashed again since.

    I run 2 of them... my main problem now is that the cat loves to play with the flashing drive light.. right above the reset button!!!

    It now has enough hours of flight time to get a pilots license...
