Cosmetic Items need a "Try it on" option

I'm glad they have cosmetic items in the store (haircuts, hair colour, etc). I don't even think their pricetag is too high.

The problem is I am not going to spend 200tp for a hair style that may or may not look good on my character. I am also not going to spend the 10tp (or w/e it is) to reverse this hairstyle if the one I bought wasn't what I had hoped for. I'm sure many people feel the same way.


Turbine, you would probably sell a heck of a lot more of these products (and therefore be encouraged to make more) if there was an option to try before you buy. You know, sort of like the guest passes for quest.

I would suggest that you put a 30 second timed version of each hair style and colour in the store for 1TP. The character in game gets the new look, and 30 seconds later reverts back to their original self. If 30 seconds isn't enough, then 1min or so should be plenty to make a decision one way or the other. I would bet you double the sales of your hair dyes and hair styles by implimenting this, not to mention a bunch of TP from the try out versions.

In addition, there should be cosmetic packs in the store that permanently add a pack of hair styles/colours to your character creation/TR screen.

Great idea Lith. I couldn't agree more.

Many a time I have sat looking at the screen, my fingers hovered over the 'buy' button, when I make the decision to not go through with it. "What if it comes off looking totally dorky on my character? - Then I have to spend MORE tp to remove it. Best not to take the chance at all".

At least during the character design/creation process, I can get a close up (or zoom out) when I cycle through the hair styles there; and actually have the ability to rotate the character to see all angles of the hairdo I am thinking about.

A preview ability would be very cool for stuff like this.

Now if we can only get dressing rooms for armor and robe vendors too....

Ok, preview for robes and armor bought with in-game gold, that may not be the first priority for Turbine. But how about a refit set for existing stuff, purchasable from the store (and with preview option of course)?

I don't see why you can't preview store stuff. And it shouldn't be to difficult to make a mock up of characters selection screen with your char wearing the intended item

I agree, but imo price for preview should be 0 tps.
If i remember right this is already made in lotro, you can find out how it looks before you buy, maybe i remember wrong.

Yeah, 0 tp for preview price, please. It's just so annoying to get little prices and itty bitty costs adding up. You want to try 25 different hair styles and color combos, and well... you've just spent all the tp you earned from getting 100 favor. :P

It would probably be simple enough to do if you could see your character's head with the new hair style/color in the "viewing orb" at the bottom right of your screen. Only problem with that is you can't rotate it.

Sell Preview items, once per character, 1 min timer for the buff, and it changes to that item your looking at.

You've done the once per character with the bottle for the res cake.... and you have potions that have limited buff timers... im sure you could do this with cosmetic items as well.
