Where in-game can we get an item/cast a spell that PREVENTS the mummy curse? Nowhere. We have a way to remove it, but no way to prevent it completely. This is out of line IMHO. Adding stuff to the store that you cannot get anywhere else is a bad idea. Aside from cosmetic items.

Beholder absorption gems, while cheesy, replicate an effect already in game. The immunity to mummy curse does not.

Store items should be for convenience, not for things you can't get in-game.

Must be, since there's always at least one person in Zawabi who comes up to my healer and asks for a cure. I don't carry those as spells on my fvs... get your own pots! But at least the mini-lecture I gave on being prepared reminded me to stock up on remove disease potions.

This is total propaganda to justify a poor decision by Turbine.

Do you honestly believe what you wrote?

Do you really think a person who is going to take advantage of these items is going to bother to upgrade a Silver Flame trinket or look for a disease immunity item?

    Your Paladin analogy is laughable.

This is just another way to dumb down the game and make it easier for your new target audience, n00bs who could care less about learning the game and want to just blaze through it will little effort or time. You know it, I know it and most of the people on these forums know it.

    LR? Alignment change?

Sorry to break it to you, but Turbine's going to make a lot more money if they make store-exclusive items that are useful to vets.

It's a shame that they introduce 'easy' button items, when other items we long for aren't available [better character customizations, etc].

But ultimately what someone does to their toon and what they spend their money on has no baring to the game experience you have.

If they buy their +2 TOME or whatever and you find it in game [chest/plat] it doesn't affect your game in the slightest.

I hate the fact that the 'easy button' is forced on us via the 1d6 change to 1 to 6 more than anything. When I have yet to see any one person ask on these forums what 1d6 meant.

It's been quite a long time since you posted that this is being worked on. Is it something that we would see this year or has it been put aside for next year (or more..) ?

of the game and there will be yet more people at lvl 20 who don't have any clue about any
tactics whatsoever since their response to seeing a beholder will be TP.

I for one have alwzays felt that beholders are a tough foe that when you see at lvl 9 or so in VoN 3 are expected to be trouble. Most of my characters unless min/maxed to the hilt won't have even a second tier silver flame neckie by the time they hit VoN 3, and I
seriously doubt a large percentage of the new player populace will have.

So in conclusion is it game braking? No.

Is it another in a long stream of easy buttons and dumbing down of the game such
as Tear, scaling and 1-6 notation? ***** yeah.

Ps.: I understand the want to make money from the store and I'm all up for selling
cosmetics items and even the GR, LR's heck even TR's on there. I'd love to see more
cosmetics items to be honest but I really dislike the make quests easier mentality.
Why should Turbine care whether level 20's have a clue or not? Think about it, which player contributes more to the bottom line; the player who uses skill to complete quests or the player who uses TPs?

I call BS on that one Tolero. It should be the same type of code that tell the collectibles guy to go in or better yet the arrows and bolts to move. maybe if they spent time on that and less on things people don't want we would have that. Its been asked for since pre-order beta. there is even a freaking bag for soul gems what the hell is the hold up other then shore laziness.
Edit added: How about instead of recoding the dice notations that did not need fixing the coders can spend the time making this work. And hey guess what you can sell in the store and make money off of it vs alienating your core fan base that kept you a float long enough to go free to play.
Edit #2 I know that your paid to toat the company line and I appreciate the response Tolero. But seriously someone there has their head up.. I'm going to stop before I type something that will likely get my post deleted.

Also Armor dyes really should have been the first thing in the store.

And I'll add one more to the pile every hat I buy in the store should be able to work like the top hat, and go over the existing.

With this rather flimsy justification and the advent of today's items, may I suggest a new logo for the Store...

Rogues and Monks get Evasion at level 2.

Will we be seeing a DDO Store Exclusive Ring of Evasion soon?

I call BS, no player has a natural built in immunity to beholders.

How hard is it to get a set of optic nerves, or acquire a silver flame trinket. You used to have to TRY to be a good player, and be properly equipped. Now you just have to have enough money to spend.

An Immunity Item that strong should NOT be available for purchase.

Gotta run von 3 elite...no problem just buy yourself a giant win button, because without their spells beholders are sissy.

Now a fear immunity/disease immunity item... Yes you can commonly buy those things in game. BUT once again your making things so easy no one learns the game.. and they all suck to play with.

Instead why don't you sell guides. 10 tp for the guide for successful tactics for defeating a beholder. NOW we are talking. People learn AND are successful.

It's clear Turbine's focus is now on the credit card using clueless n00b.

The veterans and VIP's no longer matter.

They don't don't generate enough revenue off of us.

Because they don't put things in the store that we want.
I bet if they put spell bags and armor dye a lot of vet/vip would spend money

I get that some of you feel insulted that players can opt to buy some junk instead of earning it. That's a very get-off-my-lawn attitude. But at the end of the day, this is not a competitive game; the satisfaction rests more or less with you.

And consider this: These are the things that are allowing Turbine to run this game F2P, which is appealing to those of us who'd rather earn everything we can in-game anyway. So while a few more noobs might get capped, there's also a bunch of players grinding for stuff the hard way and spending our TP on packs. Who would you rather run with?

Many players, myself included, are not that worried about these individual items, but rather what they represent. It shows that Turbine is not unwilling to release items that are as good or better then what is already obtainable in-game, and as such it sets a precedent.

It does not become unreasonable to assume that raid loot (or an equivalent) will one day be for sale to anyone who has enough TP. When this happens it will just be another cash shop game like every other F2P Asian MMO, something that many/most players that have played the game for any significant length of time feel will be this games death knell. When you start offering cash only items that either trivializes content or provides functionality beyond what can be obtained through the course of normal play the only difficulty that remains is if your bank balance will be enough to purchase said items.

As others have said the slippery road becomes ever more slick; the greater prevalence of items like anti-mummy potions make it increasingly likely that when myself and others step away from Eberron to try a new MMO that it will be for good.

Honestly I don't mind this change. I hope they make the game 10x harder and sell easy buttons in the store so WoW minded people can keep up and Turbine doesn't need me to pay for anything. Even if they don't make things harder if selling easy buttons is the alternative to unlocking Tear etc. then this is by far the lesser of two evils. Players already are capping TRs while being incompetent, and use of these items is just one more way for me to identify non like minded players to never group with; since DDO is not a PvP game those players will have limited impact on me.
