    Default New DDO store Stuff

Anti Beholder and Anti Mummy stuff?

I can see the anti beholder gem being useful to some people since 25 eye beam hits could save your behind. I doubt this will be a substitute for real tactics though.

    Rogue Trap Parts?

You can get the vials with Free Agent favor, so that is more for the F2P people who might have a hard time getting that favor. The actual parts, I'm not surprised to see them in the store (convenience item). I just wish they were slightly easier to find ingame.

Finally! Emili can put me a trap station in the ship! Kidding, I can walk over to the station, I would rather have the slots occupied with buffs.

My only qualm is with the beholder and mummy gems. It feels a little bit like buying the endgame, but as long as people dont start expecting me to carry these, I will be ok with it.

I have no problem with the 'anti-x' stuff. PROVIDED its available in game, perhaps from a house vendor at certain levels of favour. I've said this before but EVERYTHING should be available directly in game for those that wish to grind either the time or gold for it. Stuff like this is effectively Pay to Win like, as someone else has said, many Asian MMOs which is not right. He with the biggest wallet should NOT win and I say this as someone who must've spent well over $200 since game launch.

Do not like. Get the things available in game - Silver Flame Rep rewards need a boost anyway.

I'm going to echo you on this. Learning how to cope with beholders is a significant stepping stone for new players, given the sheer range of unpleasant effects they can inflict on the unprepared. I don't see enabling them to trivially circumvent this being a good thing -- better to learn the (many) mitigation strategies that already exist.

This would, I suppose, be somewhat tolerable. It still feels like an uncalled-for beholder nerf, though. The things are deadly if you're not ready for them, but they're supposed to be.

I think we both come from the same place on this one, but allow me to rephrase anyway!

If you're going to have these things available at all, then get them available in-game via favour or as quest rewards, as well as in the store. I suggest Silver Flame rep rewards could use a boost, and it seems to make sense if these items sat with them, available via a vendor for significant quantities of gold once you reach the appropriate favour level.

There. That's what I was getting at. I agree with you that these items aren't really necessary but then that goes for plenty of other items in game as it is (Warforged only belts of disease immunity anyone?). But if they're going to be there at all then just having them in the store isn't the way to go. Pay to play, not pay to win. That, according to the various interviews that have been given, is the aim of every item in the store. These latest additions and some of the store-only guild rewards seem in direct contradiction to that stated aim, and I don't like it.

I'm free to vote with my wallet and not spend the money, and that's exactly what I'll do - I spend plenty of money in the DDO store buying content, character slots, shared bank and all that kind of stuff. I have been known to buy a hireling in a very tight pinch or theives tools if I've been stupid and not stocked up - but all those things are also available via other means, and the store is merely a convenience and I pay the price for being dumb and not bringing easily obtainable consumables with me. I do not like when things turn up in there that make a quest easier that you can't get via other means. Grinding favour for TPs does not count as available via other means. The delivery mechanism for an in game item being the store and only the store is not in the spirit of the much vaunted and well liked business model Turbine have implemented.

I have not bought the personal character bank expansion for that reason (and the fact that its waaaaaay overpriced just makes it easier not to buy), and I won't buy these. But as well as voting with my wallet, I wanted to post here and say it outright to Turbine so they definitely hear me. I said the personal bank slot expansion was the top of a slippery slope, and with the Guild add ons and these items it appears I was 100% correct.

    Please don't do this Turbine.

No Reavers ring, no disease immunity, no problem, DDO store.

Angry NEW! do nothing crystal on sale at the store!

OMFG! Now you can buy a beholder crystal that absorbs 25 eyebeam attacks in the store. If they are going to do that, why not just sell a completion crystal. simply walk into the quest, equip the crystal and click on it, you are instantly awarded the xp and teleported to the endboss chest.

I wonder how we have ended up with a population of level 20s and TRs that have absolutely no idea how to play... hmmmmm?

Default I want an 'I win' button NOW

So when are we getting those? I really want one. The game is so hard and takes so long.
I just want to log on pay some tp in the store and get an 'I win' button that makes me
lvl 20 right away. Should give me the raid gear I want to. I mean we already have a
'kill beholder' and 'maim mummy' button why not an 'I win' one?
    Best,

Umm.. The game is all 'I Win' now a days. The only challenges left in DDO is over coming the bad code and krapy quest design.

Usually I'm one of those "if you don't like the item in the Store, just don't buy it," kinda people. But today's additions to the Store are just bad. Bad bad bad bad.

Don't you think that the usefulness of things in the DDO store is in the eye of the beholder?

    Sorry, I couldn't resist that.

I had almost exact same thought. Beholder resistance and mummy resistance crystals basically destroy their corresponding quests.

    Default Such cynicism!

You must have partied with my character, at random times, whether its a wipe, a minor being getting killed or simply I have to say SOMETHING so I seem like I'm participating I will randomly type "We win!" Funniest point was the first time I said that in the orchard, me and a guildy were running around aimlessly and all of a sudden our cleric hireling decided all this running was for the birds and took off. This happened in from of what we THOUGHT was an NPC there to tell us we had won DDO and were l33t, and in anticipation I said "We win!" right as he disappeared and a huge skeleton and a lot of less huge but no less menacing things descended upon us in a swirling maelstrom of suck.
