people will not usually want to read random things

they will not even care to try when they don't know what its about

and finally, following a link to an external site is not only tedious, but maybe dangerous as well.

Get a quote, explain what it is, and then people can start discussing it and some might even read it!

I've just read it. No viruses or anything like that. It's a story about a guy being addicted to video games. Pfft. What a loser

EDIT: I've learnt how to control my gaming at a very young age. Never been addicted, never will.
In case you didn't already notice, my posts that end with must NEVER EVER, under any circumstances, be taken seriously.

    Default Ok.. qoutes..

How addictive MMO's can lead to unhappy lives..

~~**The woman I had once told was the love of my life was sitting undressed in my bed not a foot away from my computer desk, begging me to join her, and I kept putting it off. I was so close to level 40 I could taste it.**~~

I've been there, sadly... being so close to level 20 on my 2nd TR that I just couldn't be bothered to leave the computer.. for any reason...

Wow... Ya know, this is basically a story that a blogger wrote in regards to his addiction issues with MMO's.

    He now writes for them.

Read it please, discuss it if you like.. but at least read it.. kinda makes me feel not alone when I sit here on the forums, going over DPS numbers for hours upon hours upon days to get the correct formula for Monk DPS in DDO...

A TLDR would have been much faster.

I get bored very quickly so unless I'm in a zerging group I'll log off every other quest and do something else.

It shouldn't take more than an hour to work out DPS by hand for any class lol.

HA, I wish that was true, however with Monks you have to calculate which strikes your using against each boss, which handwraps, which bursting rings, buffs, how each ki strike affects each strike, how many times, ect.. as well as the damage from criticals from earth strikes and vorpals on fists of darkness ect ect ect...

The DPS from a Monk comes from so many different sources that it truly is the most difficult class i've had to work out DPS numbers for, even more so now with the changes to TWF that came in U5, and the 10% double strike, offhand procs, ect ect ect

    oh, whats a TLDR?

    Okay, here's the short rebuttal:

Anything can be addictive and taken to the extreme. From DDO to political activism to cat herding.

Its not the tool, its the person wielding it.

Agree'd. However, how many of us can stop and say... you know, I have this person I play online with... i wonder what they do for the 3 hours it seems their not online...

I posted this just to get folks to stop and think...

MMO's can become an addiction, but being aware that they can, can make it easier to avoid it While it might not be an issue for you (denial is the first sign of addiction fyi LOL), it might be someone you know

Like the Completionist players we have currently on their 8th, 9th, even 10th class.

TLDR or TL;DR is short for Too Long, Didn't Read.
