Default The Evil Eye on Thelanis

The Evil Eye, a well financed (10 million+ plat) crime syndicate has arrived in Stormreach.

The purpose of the Evil Eye is to bring like minded players together. Money and financing will be available to the extent that it is necessary to avoid having to compromise the guilds values to play with others of different playstyles.

Briefly answer the following questions in a PM or in game mail to see if your character is a good fit:

    1) What is your character's name and race?
    2) When is a good time to explain to new players about a quest?
    3) What should voice chat primarily be used for?

    And one additional note...
New players are encouraged to join. Especially those with some roleplaying background who are looking to group with experienced (like-minded) players.

Experienced players are encouraged to join who are looking for a better game experience and also enjoy playing with like minded new players.

The questions are just to make sure that we have a similar approach to the game, there are no wrong answers etc.

    Default Wow

    Wow, big response so far..

One question I 'm getting alot of is from the vets who have alts in other guilds.. and the answer is yes you can be completely anonomous in The Evil Eye. In fact, it is encouraged!

We are even planning our first event... the 'Guild Exchange'... where people with alts in the big guilds will be 'exchanging' things from their guild chests with the goodies in our chest! Good stuff.. good stuff.

Join now.. as I assume we will be hitting our capacity soon!

This looks so good as the top thread in the forum list that I think I'll keep it up there.

    Default Help with your guild

I thought it might be helpful to give potential players some insight into their guild leader's mentality.

If you read the following threads, you will get a good idea of the playstyle of Mr. Daggertooth. Perhaps it will help you decide if this is the guild for you!

New players especially who are finding the game unenjoyable due to the grouping mechanisms feel free to find me through the mail etc on Thelanis. I really enjoy letting your character die in traps, and I will personaly guarantee that there is no one in the group who races ahead or announces anything. Not only that but I am insanely rich and you could find yourself well equipped if I find you somewhat amusing.

The main goal is for you to experience the game the way it was meant to be experienced. Not choking on the exhaust of someone calculating an xp per minute ratio.

I've gotten some responses, and it seems that some people are missing the point of The Evil Eye.

Here is the answer sheet to the entrance exam:

    1) What is your name and race: Can be any race, but humans are somewhat despised. Drow, halflings, repugnant dwarves are all ok. Light elves are ok as long as they are not monks and will keep quiet. Warforged are fine for menial labor. Should be somewhat ominous in so that you fit in with the guild.

Names are important and must simply be authentic/roleplayingesque. When people see your name on the grouping panel, it should reflect the type of experience we are trying to creat not something out of context.

    2) When is a good time to explain to people about a quest? Never! There is no reason to ever explain anything and this is in violation of The Evil Eye. Anything that is not previously known by someone should remain so until they themselves experience it, INCLUDING if it will cause an untimely death.

    3) What should voice chat primarily be used for? The mic can be used for many things. Cleaning out drains, hard to get out fabric stains. Pour a little detergent and then vigorously rub the mic over the stain for 30 seconds. Be sure you are not on hands free at the time.

    Recieving more inquiries/interest so going to give a little more depth about the type of experience that the Evil Eye is about;

The Evil Eye is all about depth and atmosphere, even to the extent that failing the quest /mission is a possibility. Its kind of a bit of an opposite to the standard play style in that what is actually valued over game knowledge is not knowing what to expect, or if you have done the quest, actually acting and convincing everyone that you don't know and even hamming it up a bit and setting off traps etc as if you didn't know (that is an example)

You would basically create a new character and no one would know you. There is minimal voice chat people can talk if they like in the groups, but no one is required to listen and all important information is relayed in text.

No one would ask how much experience you have or if you are a new or experienced player, because this goes against the 'atmosphere' of the game. New players will try to 'convince' everyone that they are actually experienced and experienced players will try to 'convince' eveyrone that they have never done the quests... this is all done through actions in game, there is no voice chat, so this is not done through voice. There is really no typing either.. as in this playstyle, there is really nothing to type. There is no need to communicate anything to anyone, everything is done through the actions in the game, almost as if all the characters in the game speak different languages. This will create a dynamic experience in the group for everyone where no one really knows whats up with everyone else, and anything can happen. If someone does something that you thought was bad, you can't complain to them, you just have to adjust and rise to the occasion and deal with it, in game. For example, if you are on a fighter, and someone else is on a wizard, you would definitely -not- tell them to cast any spells. You aren't going to say /type 'wiz, cast firewall here'. This is completely out of line in this type of game. Your character has no clue about spells, and has no idea what the mage is or is not capable of and definitely would 'not' be telling him what to cast. So you basically have to just do what your character can do.. you cannot tell other people what to do. A successful quest is not necessarily finishing or completing, in as so much as it is creating an authentic and challenging experience for all. There might be many 'heroic' moments in a quest where your character came through and saved the group, or everyone worked quite well together, or any number of exciting things happened, but even still the quest could end in failure. This would still most definitelyl be considered a succesful outing, because everyone learned from it and also gained valuable expereince in creating a more authentic game atmosphere.
