    Default Open Lock question

I am hoping to roll up some type of Rogue toon to play around with traps, disable, open lock and all the other goodies. How many points do I need to put in Open Lock? I was using the character planner and planning on a full 23 ranks in it, but was told in-game you only need 4 ranks, plus some decent equipment. If that's true, there are a bunch of free points to use on other skills. So what's the real deal and how many ranks should I aim to put in OL?

Maybe this Guide called "Is my <insert rogue skill> high enough" helps you with this question: http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Is_my...29_high_enough

That guide is good but I did find myself wondering if his numbers included a 20 roll or if that was the base skill you needed (such as the waterline for 58 - 68, is that before or after you roll a 20).

    Before.
In case you didn't already notice, my posts that end with must NEVER EVER, under any circumstances, be taken seriously.

While you can get by with less, pure rogues usually have more skill points than they need. By maxing OL you guarentee you won't be bothing to need to switch to a OL item or use a skill boost up before opening locks.
