    Default Few Mechanic questions...

First of all... how are Heavy Repeater-using Mechanics feeling nowadays? ...how is their dps doing (compared to Assassins & Thief-Acrobats)? I've always wanted to have a Heavy Repeater-user, but am a bit uncertain whether or not I should respec my level 13 Rogue into one.

    Furthermore...
What's the current wisdom on going: Pure Rogue 20 vs Rogue/Fighter (for Mechanic/Kensai)? ...and if the latter is suggested, what kind of breakdown is most favorable: Rogue 6 / Fighter 14? ...Rogue 12 / Fighter 8? ...Rogue 13 / Fighter 6 / something?

I recently respec'd my Rogue to try out Thief Acrobat with Quarterstaff (as I've always wanted a fun quarterstaff guy)... and though I still have more play-testing of sorts, I'm not blown away by it thus far. Not disliking it, just not overly impressed vs what he was... guess I'm saying 'feels good, not ultra-great' hehe. I'm interested in Mechanic, but am worried about spending the cash to respec him, not really knowing what I'd be getting into.

If you want to do a crossbow mechanic, I'd really stay pure Rogue20. The rogue levels and capstone provide much more Sneak Attack damage than the few points granted by Fighter Weapon Spec and Kensei (even the capstone intelligence is some damage).

Of course, that depends on you staying close enough to have Sneak Attack- but if you weren't willing to do that, you shouldn't be a Rogue at all (and instead gone Ranger Arcane Archer)

There is probably some mix of Rogue/Fighter/Ranger that is decent. I'm building a rogue in permadeath play that I'll go pure with and pump up Int as much as possible. Mechanic to level 12 (OK, he'll probably die, but one can dream...) , then I'll convert to Assasin with a solid DC. I think until some folks start building some of these things, it's hard to judge. Also, they are going to give another shot at tweaking the "no roll" shot that is often seen with the repeater. If they get it fixed, the damage will bump up some and play better.

I don't think it's a good idea to rely on sneak attack damage with ranged. It's tricky to get withing 20 feet and stay there. And if you are getting that close, you might as well melee, because that will likely be higher deeps.
