Zerg!
I'm not convinced that you actually played the beta, tbh. If you did, you would know about the leagues. You can't smurf anymore since you'll only have one account. If you wanted another account you would have to buy another copy of the game. And what game doesn't have the occasional disconnect? That's just a part of online gaming. But just for the record, I haven't gotten DC'd a single time while playing the beta.i did give reasons other than it sucks. A whole paragraph. Im not going to repeat myself but sc2 has nothing going on beyond the storyline and mods. The beta was ok, nothing new. Everyone has played the ladder system on battlenet... what makes it great? its a ladder system like any other with disconnects, smurfing, and so on. Stacraft 2 isnt great, its Blizzards starcraft 1 all over again with a refined look and new units that do the same old thing. It sucks.
Refined look? Yes. New units that do the same old thing? Somewhat, but most of those units got a revamp with a new skill or purpose (like the queen for example, or vulture (hellion)). I respect your opinion to think it sucks, but you're giving really weak and generic reasons.
Err... you know that players are going to be separated by realms... like N. America, EU, and Asia. Then there's divisions and leagues to separate players by skill level so you're always playing against people with similar skill. I don't see where this "getting pwned by Koreans 24/7" even comes from.
Why do you think I posted in off-topic? People post stuff like this in the DDO general discussion and yet I don't see you telling them to gtfo. Why have an off-topic forum if you can't talk about random things, including other games? No thanks.
and it seems that a lot of folks feel the need to come to other games and crow about what everyone should be playing.
Go play your SC2 game man....i and i as you can see a lot do not care.
Enjoy....but really...does this make you feel important or special...show some respect to Turbine...your on their forum...you want to go talk SC2...go to Blizzards board....really.
I'm also highly anticipating Natural Selection 2, which is made by a small indie company that has a fraction of the resources of Blizzard. But having played NS 1 and seeing the previews of NS 2, I can tell it will be absolutely amazing.
Because it's made by Blizzard, who has made dominant gaming titles since the late 90's. The trailer gives a pretty nice sneak peek into SC2's storyline, which is of course yet to be revealed. That video shows no gaming at all.
What is it with people hyping games because their cinematic trailers look great?
____
Anyway, I realize that many if not most people here don't gives a rat's ass about SC2 or RTS's in general, but I just wanted to share that very well made trailer.
Rice i know now you are a bit mislead about competitive ladder. Koreans use the USA gateways all the time. I know this because i trained under "Showtime" one of the best WC3 players at one time. He and most of the pros ranked best on ladder and most tournaments were won by Korea. I know the ladder and how it works like the back of my hand. He used to teach me under US gateways and the East ones were mostly ignored because only the USA ones would get him the ratings for sponsorship and tournament exclusiveness. The end truth is that even if you are great at the ladder system....it is ultimatly pointless. Just a numbers game with no social aspect.
No. They do the same in the USA. Grubby,iknowfear,agent911,Kain- All non-asian players who made money from playing games and getting sponsorships.
I spent a year in Korea when i was in the army and i went to alot of cybercafes, Koreans taught me how to play SC1 competitively and i have to say that they are talented gamers. There use of the keyboard and quick thinking is perplexing. When i got back to the states i bought sc1 and owned everyone in US gateways but never did very good against Koreans.
Its pathetic because your not thinking it rationally. Remember they have sponsorships for foodeating, even shows. There are paid/sponsored people for all kind of things. How far you can throw a rock, how big you can get your muscles, How well you can punch someone in a cage, How well you can dance with a ribbon, dancing, singing, reality showing, playing cards, american gladiator, jai alai, chess, etc. Some may seem reasonable but whats to say gaming is any different than playing cards for money?
Gaming is a major market and legendary players like Fatal1ty and Grubby and others who play anything from Halo to Quake to Warcraft get famous by there peers. Blizzard is one company that sponsors gamers and tournaments. Also gamestop sponsors player and tournaments as well as many gaming hardware companies.
Gaming takes skill. Maybe not in MMO's but definatly in FPS and RTS.
