Default Best AC/Dps build for a Monk.

Hi there, I've played a sorcerer for a few months now and I'm looking at creating a monk with some good solo ability but still able to help out in a party. I've done some research into a monk dex/wisdom build and this seems a very good choice to me although i will be sacrificing some dps. I was looking for any advice on race selection, starting stats, feat selection and stat placement to end up with a good monk build that will be an effective soloer as well as good at end game raiding. I have access to a stack of plat as well as some +2 and +1 tomes to help with my build. I am also planning on making this a 32pt build. Do you have any suggestions?

Here's pretty much what you are after I think.

Basically, if you want to go high AC, then a dex based halfling with weapon finesse and halfling sneak attack enhancements to compensate for the damage lost from having lowish strength is probably your best bet.

Gear matters more than build for monks. There isn't much variation to be had in builds. However, with Touch of Death proccing up to four times (main hand, off hand, double-strike, extra unknown) on a single attack, it has become a great source of DPS for monks. As a dark monk, you should also pick up Ninja Spy I and II for the sneak attack die.

Halflings can have slightly more AC than the other races due to size bonus and starting Dex. They can also pick up Halfling Guile, which adds to sneak attack damage. It more than makes up for the decreased strength.

Having high wisdom instead of strength or dexterity can be beneficial to DPS. Stunning Fist DCs can be high enough to stun end-game mobs now, but only if you have high wisdom. Setting up an auto-crit will do far more DPS than any strength build can do alone.

Have to disagree with you there. Builds make a huge difference for a monk. For example, a dex/wis based light path high AC monk is going to play a lot differently to a Str/con based dark path warforged DPS/tanking monk.

I agree that gear is critically important, but the best gear in the world won't help you much if you build your monk wrong for what you want to achieve with it.
