    Default Sad to go

Didn't know where to post it, so figured I'd post it here on the server forum I'm most often playing on.

After being a part of DDO pretty much since it's inception oh so long ago (I think it was 2005, if I remember, because it started the year after my parents died) I am sadly having to end my paid subscription to DDO. I know, I can still freeplay, but it isn't the same.

I found now that my wife and I have had our child, well, I really don't have the time to play right now. That and the $120 I was paying a year for the VIP membership could probably go towards something more important, like, oh, I don't know, my child.

I may still lurk around here and there and run an adventure or two, but unfortunately, at this time, the time isn't there and it isn't worth the money to me.

To my friends, I say not good bye, but til next we meet.

To my foes, not that i had any, I say may you meet your end at within the teeth of a mimics stomach.

For now, Snugglesbear Cuddlysoft, Paurneau Star, Paurno Star, Etoile de Paurneau, Ezzee the Intelligent, Stupid Song Singer, Moron the Medicine Man, Ezzee the Intelligent, and Drizzfabadoo the Kobold Slayer signing off.

Just in case you miss the game don't completely rule out f2p. With the Turbine Points that you probablty have build up you should be able to access most all the end game quests/raids that are out there. I am seeing many doing just that, myself included. Just giving a suggestion that really isn't as bad as it sounds. Either way hope all goes well and enjoy that new little one.

Where were you for the last 9 months leading up to its birth?! Jeez you aren't starting out on a good note...

See...now you've just angered all the VIP members because you only have to pay $10/month and the rest of us are stuck paying $15. Thats just not right...

Congratulations on behalf of Turbine! We hope to see you around in the future, possibly with the little one in tow.

    DON'T DELETE YOUR TOONS!

Dogg healed (I use the term loosely) his way through many of our raids with his baby girl on his lap. Many died, but it was nice having him afk with us.

Congrats man. Play if you can.

Good luck with the new child.

Speaking from experience, playing an MMO with a sleeping child on your lap is an experience that no new father should be without and you will need some sort of mental escape. F2P is an excellent option - don't rule it out completely without trying.

Hey man, I'm in the same boat as you. Mine is just over a year old now though. I certainly cannot play the same amount I used to but I get on for at least an hour every day or so. It was a painful transition, but I have an awesome girlfriend that gives me some time to play. Check this out:

    http://www.thinkgeek.com/books/b5e5/

It helped me understand things in terms I was familiar with

All things considered, the $120 isn't a bad thing to keep going... it's $120 to keep you at home with your family but doing what you want to do.

My daughter slept in a Snugli while I played on Everquest for hours on end. Just have to play with understanding people because when the baby wakes up it's baby time. But they sleep a ton - just never when YOU want to sleep.

Take a break and enjoy your new life. After a while you will start learning the fine art of balance when it comes to your recreation and your family.

    1) Do NOT give away all your stuff and delete your characters. When you come back you will only feel like an idiot.

    2) Don’t dismiss F2P. A few investments of Turbine Points and patience with Adventure Pack sales is all you really need.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.
