    Default Gold spammers....

Ok people here is the lowdown. Not sure if this is one person or a group of ******bags but someone is posting icyburstkits for around 50kpp and as soon as you put the cash in trade window and accept they stand by the mailbox and I am guessing mail the plat to their main whilst you assume that they are mailing you your recipes they then logout and delete the toon as it was a lvl 4 toon. This is a warning do not accept trades with nonguilded or low guilded toons of around lvl 4 or below. I have been hit twice by these scammers. Turbine needs to step up and ban these peoples ip's. I have tried to report them but the toons are no longer in the system and so I just get an error. To me it is no big deal as I can make it up quickly. But I know for a fact that I am not the only one that got ripped off; as another person that was waiting by the mailbox sent me a tell saying that he hoped that I had not given any palt to that toon because he had just been ripped off and asked me how to report it.

Note: Do not blacklist these name as the toons have been deleted and I don't want some innocent noob to get blacklisted because some ******bags gave these names a bad rep.

I do feel bad about this, it sucks bad. On the other hand you may want to edit out the names. If the toon has been deleted someone else might pick that name and you would ruin their rep. Not to mention that the cube will eat your post.

now im not sure what exactly is in an icyburst kit(all the ingredients as they are needed ) but wouldnt it make more sense to have them put it in the trade window and hit accept...

whenever i trade something for something i put my item in, and wait for them to put theirs in and hit accept before accepting myself..

The problem with putting them in trade is Turbine in all it's infinite wisdom has made the recipes tradeable by mail or AH only so no just open a trade window and get the gear. I personally never trade without a guild tag, that doesn't mean it can't happen but it does mean it's less likely.

For some bizzare reason the recipes cannot be traded and must instead be mailed. Not a very safe thing at all since a potential buyer can also scam the seller by insisting that they send the recipes first before handing over the plat..

There is a bug that makes the recipe unable to be traded, but they can be mailed. This is amazingly the first I have heard of someone getting ripped off in this manner. We have done the ice games twice now, with little problem. It was only a matter of time before someone decided to pull a stunt like this.

Considering this happened last time, you would think they would have made them tradeable before bringing the ice games back again.

No offense, but you should never trust a stranger to give you something after you pay them. Always get yours first, or if that's not possible just don't do it.

i actually had someone try and scam me i think. He was offering a 5 recipe for 50k plat i said 40 he said yeah. So i clicked on him and looked at his charactor level 4 with no guild so i said no offense but can you send that to me? Im a level 16 charactor in a level 23 guild its unlikely that im going to delete this toon just for a ice burst recipe. He said no, so no deal. Later i brought one for 30k off of a level 11 charactor in a level 15 guild.

Ya he/she was most likely going to rip you off as that was a reasonable request that they denied. Would you PM me the name of the toon if you remember.

I know for a fact it was a scam because i clicked on report on his name in the chat window 5 minutes later and got the error charactor doesnt exist or something like that. He must of realised someone had caught on to him and deleted the toon. Or he had managed to rip someone off and took off with the loot.

trusting strangers with money, especially when they are offering stuff at a fraction of the going cost, makes me think there was some greed on the OPs part that they took advantage of. Deals that are "too good to be true" are often "too good to be true".

Ask for the goods first, or deal with someone you know, or at least a guild you know.

Actually, just yesterday I made a trade for 3 icy burst kits for 180k plat with someone who had to get on their lvl 1 character.

Now, I made sure I wasn't going to trade any money to the person until I received ALL icy burst kits in the mail and the motes in the trade window. Once everything was all set, I then proceeded to trade with this person.

DO NOT give them the money first. You're the customer YOU need to see the goods first hand before giving these people the money. If they refuse to give you the kits and motes before you give them the money then just say ok and move on!

I'm truely sorry that you got ripped off twice. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

The last game I played, Runes of Magic, had a cash on delivery option in their mailing system. Basically you mailed an item to someone but they can't get the item unless they pay a specified amount, which is then automatically mailed back to you. The item gets mailed back if unclaimed in like a day (maybe 10 hours?). That would be a nice feature to one day see here.

This happened to me the first ice games.
I will not buy from anyone at this point.
I won't pay the preposterous AH prices.
If I can't jump for it I'm not getting it.
And really I don't feel like jumping around all day this time.
Basicaly I'm just ignoring the ice games.
It would be nice if Turbine would fix the bug that allows people to rip others off.
I was surprised that the Ice Games returned with no fix.
Why Turbine? It doesn't concern you?
You don't want people to sell them without the plat sink of the AH?

I'm not one to say that guilded toons are somehow better then non guilded but for matters of trust like this tbh I wouldnt even consider giving cash up front to somebody that wasnt in a guild I recognized and respected enough to hope that a screenshot for their officers provides me some security for a trade.

Its a shame that people scam in a pve game but unfortunately it happens...
