Please let all customized keys stay customized

I noticed that the + key from the numpad always reset back to Camera Zoom In when I entered the game. I submitted a ticket, the GM asked me to speak to technical support, which I did, and they gave me a quick and straightforward response: some keys reset to the default options (whether you like it or not). It's part of the design.

May I ask what is the reason for this? I can't really think of why you would want a key to reset back, when you already give us the option to change it in the first place.

I would love to see this, but don't get your hopes high. We've been running our heads against brick walls with this request for a very long time, in particular with the store hotkey and the myddo hotkey.
It's rather frustrating.

Better yet: in addition to this how about having an option that lets you keep seperate custom key maps for each character instead of the changes applying to all characters. Of course I'd want to be able to import/export keymaps so I don't have to make several changes more than once, but some keys I might want to be a different layout from one character to another.

Even though I agree that all keys should be fully customized, maybe I could understand why they would want to "brand" certain keys with their unique DDO UI areas, like MyDDO and the Store, as they are part of what made DDO:U. But a key like + that is used for Camera Zoom in, when there is already an alternative (NUMPAD9) makes absolutely no sense on why it would have to reset back.

They already have a backup key to zoom the camera in, why not let you use only that, and free the main key?
