    Default Arcane Archer

I will be ending up with 14 Barb\6 Ranger is it better to take my arcane archer prestige class as Elven Arcane Archer or Ranger Arcane Archer, or is there any difference at all?

I am leaning towards Elven Arcane Archer just incase they add Arcane Archer 2 and 3 some day. As it is currently built I have no desire to respec enhancements on this character so I want to get it right the first time.

    Thanks for any Advice

You'll almost always need to respec if you want your char optimized.

The ranger versions are available sooner in ranger level equivalent than in elf level. (ie. ranger: 6 vs elf: 8), however they also require ranger levels.

Thus if you want to take the higher leveled enhancements in the line; conjure +x arrows, imbue <blah> arrows with only 6 ranger levels, then you need to take the Elven version.

I am happy having a few less than 100% optimal characters as long as I am having fun. Crit Rage II ranged so far has proven to be lots of fun.

Thanks to both of you I was leaning that direction anyway I just wanted to confirm.

I am starting to close in on level 18 with my archer which will be 14th Barb/4th Ranger and the elven arcane archer looks like the way to go for the prestige class.

As the elf is for sure the better path to take for the arcane I am contemplating another splash. If I continue to ranger 6 I will get a bonus feat, another favored enemy, more favored enemy damage, improved two weapon fighting and 4 Hit Points. The other choice is rouge 2 for maxed umd and evasion. My buffed reflex save right now is decent and I am noticing a chunk of the damage the character suffers right now is originating from attacks that could be evaded (DBF im looking at you). I am sure thier are benefits to both and doing certain quests vs having evasion and not having evasion makes a noticable diffrence.
